I've realized that the job description for anything in Ops should just be: "Scripting Engineer. Must be really good at a high-level / scripting language. Also not an asshole."

Which is great except for the on-call bit.

Almost every conversation I have with folks just learning about IPv6 goes about the same way; once I'm finally able to convince them that IPv6 is not going away and is needed in their network, the que...

+Heather Gotlieb Johnson I think our little fruit monster would like these.

Fresh Fruit Popsicles
via: http://bit.ly/HK38do

Gather up some of your favorite fruits, slice ‘em up and layer them in a popsicle mold. Pour in some Capri Sun fruit punch, insert a popsicle stick halfway and stick in the freezer until set. Yum!

I consistently love that OS X has an X11 server so I can easily export remote displays. But when people rip on Macs as "trendy" or "bought for image only" I just sigh, because there's no way I can explain this sort of thing to them.

Got a co-location datacenter .pdf brochure from a company. Realized it has pictures of people swimming underwater on it. Huh? I don't think that's a good metaphor for a datacenter.

I kept meaning to find out what happened to IPv5. Here's the answer!

http://www.oreillynet.com/onlamp/blog/2003/06/what_ever_happened_to_ipv5.html
IPv6 this, and IPv6 that. We're at IPv4 and moving to IPv6 -- so what happened to IPv5?

Interesting. But I'm picturing the practical out-of-band-support usefulness more than the nefarious applications.

Fun water area but rooms a little worn. Good discounts and drinks. Breakfast buffet food not too great.

Great location! Real "hotel" unlike most of the motel-style places in the area. Easy access to both Moonstone boardwalk and downtown Cambria. Friendly staff. Steam rooms are a nice amenity.
