Do you ever find your M leaving lateral scratches in the negatives?

I have one bad habit that I feel contributes to this problem, but it's frustrating as it's not on every negative, but on enough of them and deep enough that it effectively ruins the possibility of printing the negative. I've ruled out everything else and can say without a doubt it's the camera, just curious if this is an experience others have had.

The camera was overhauled by Sherry Krauter a couple of years back and I"m not looking forward to forking out cash on another overhaul, but if that's what it takes then I guess that's what it takes.

(The bad habit is that I occasionally tension the film with the rewind knob. No King Kong shit, just a gentle tensioning. Often it happens when I've forgotten if there is film in the camera, and occasionally I do it as a nervous twitch; shame on me.)
