Very nice story on Chesapeake Bay boat building, as told by Maritime Museum legend Richard Scofield.

Thanks to +Food Lifeline for recognizing Phinney Neighborhood Association's Hot Meal Program with a 2014 Agency Excellence Award. Eating is always better when it's for a good cause and the Phabulous PhinneyWood Pig Out certainly helps to prove that point!
To solve a chronic problem like hunger takes fresh and ingenious approaches. To foster a spirit of innovation in hunger relief, Food Lifeline annually recognizes food programs in its Western Washington network that are successfully trying new approaches to feeding hungry people. Better yet, the award winning approaches are replicable and are shared with 275 other food programs in Food Lifeline’s network at our annual conference in March. This yea...

Thanks to everyone who joined the +West Seattle Tool Library & Sustainable West Seattle for their Festivus celebration on Friday. While airing grievances, demonstrating feats of strength, and building some excellent homemade toys, you all also managed to raise thousands to support your local tool library in 2014! (My favorite grievance from the night: Not Enough Gluten.)

The Phabulous PhinneyWood Pig Out comes again! You couldn't ask for a nicer fall day to support local food security by eating out at all the best places in PhinneyWood!
A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Phinney Neighborhood Association's Hot Meal Program, which supplies over 20,000 meals each year to those in need.

Great day to get out in West Seattle and help send some support up to Oso through WS4OSO. Nice to see so many local businesses stepping up!

(Published on Flickr by Snohomish County government, taken during 10:37 am moment of silence today) Some businesses and organizations have started already – we hear the West Seattle Eagles‘ dinner tonight was a sellout! – but tomorrow’s the big day for the WS4OSO (West Seattle for Oso) peninsula-wide benefit. The idea came from fabled fundraiser [...]

Great to see the +West Seattle Food Bank taking home the gold in this year's Westy Awards for Non Profit of the Year. Very well deserved. If you haven't visited a Food Bank open house yet, you certainly owe it to yourself. In my opinion, it's one of the best tours in the city!

The West Seattle Chamber of Commerce has announced this year’s Westside Awards recipients, who will be honored at a breakfast event one week from today. From WSCofC CEO Lynn Dennis and chair Nancy Woodland: The Westside Awards Breakfast honors three local businesses and one individual who demonstrate success and innovation that contribute to this thriving [...]

While +Slate struggles to understand the various aspects of the now fashionable "Sharing Economy," +Shareable doesn't miss a step in helping bring them up to speed. Great article by +Neal Gorenflo!

All fundraisers should, by non-profit law, have an "airing of grievances." So glad to know that it'll be a featured option at the +West Seattle Tool Library's Festivus Gala this Friday. Should be fun! bit.ly/18gw8o1
