Golf Resort

Sea Palms Resort & Conference Center is the only resort on St. Simons Island to offer 27 holes of championship golf on site. Designed by George Cobb and Tom Jackson in 1967, our golf course has established itself as one of the Golden Isles’ most rewarding courses, offering challenging play for golfers of all skill levels.

In his prime, George Cobb created more than 100 original golf course designs, along with dozens of redesigns. His most prominent design is his shortest course – the Par 3 Course at Augusta National Golf Club, completed in 1959. He was also the original designer of Quail Hollow Golf Club.

Recent renovations on all of our bunkers and several new agronomy measures have many raving about our courses. These bunkers have been re-shaped and replaced with brilliant white G-angle sand. Native ornamental grasses have also been planted to raise the aesthetic appeal of the course.

The main 18-hole course plays to a par of 71. At just under 6,500 yards from the tips, the course is not long by today's standards. The pines, palms and palmetto trees that line the fairways along with some overhanging moss place a premium on driving accuracy. There is a considerable contrast in length between the two nines, with the longer back including a pair of fairly long par 5s, the second of which is part of a stout trio of finishing holes that includes the longest par 5, par 3 and par 4 on the course. The water-lined 18th is a terrific finishing hole.

The newer West nine- hole course is a shorter regulation layout that plays to a par of 34 (four par 3's) and is a first-rate traditional coastal design by George Cobb that is approaching its 50th birthday.

We had an excellent stay at this facility. Finding the check in office was a little confusing at first, but we were directed there by someone at the conference center area. Our room was not extraordinary, but is was of nice quality, clean, and comfortable. We enjoyed the balcony that looked out over the marsh and the gentle breeze flowing through the area was nice! The folks at the restaurant were friendly and personable. The food was excellent, really above average! It was a very relaxing time and I hope to stay there again in the future.

I have played the golf course many times during the past twenty years. I have found that the recent conditions to be the best ever. The course is challenging but also player friendly. Greens are fast and true and in excellent condition. I highly recommend this resort to anyone interested in golf and many other amenities--great dining, health club, beautiful pools, etc. John Teramo

Misleading. You walk in the lobby and it looks very nice and when you go to your room it is not! There is a disgusting smell when we first walked into our room. We also noticed FLEAS all over the bathroom, and noticed our tub was NASTY! I contacted the front desk and they told us to come back to the front office....Once we got back to the front office the front desk clerk told me they were sold out of rooms and she would have maintenance to go spray & have house keeping to go clean the tub for us. I advised her that my family will not be staying in that room so she gave us another room. The room that had the fleas was room 301A.

hair on covers and heavy makeup and hair on pillows. Went into bathroom and floor was noticeably covered with hair which had it been cleaned could have been removed. Pulled covers back and the sheets had hair in it as well. We were disappointed...called front desk and they offered us the 1 bdrm suite as an upgrade.'s now 2 am and we had to pack up, drive to font desk for new key. New room was bigger but the guests above got up evey morning @ 6 am and stomped across the floors for 2 1/2 hrs. Checkout was done by office manager who belittled the situation by emphasizing the cost of the upgraded room instead of apologizing for the lack of cleanliness of our first room and the fact we had to pack and move in the middle of night. I pointed out to her that the room I chose was the room I wanted...heck it had a better view. Also mentioned the noisy guests above and was given a very condescending response of not being able to control other guests. Very disappointed as I chose this resort and had high expectations for our stay. Didn't think the value was worth it at all...should have been offered some of my money back...

Great location on St Simons Island. Nice golf course. Be beautiful views of the marsh, if you get the right room.

We attended a wedding at the gazebo at this resort and the bugs on the lawn were AWFUL (and I live inn Florida- I know bugs). Apparently they had mowed the lawn where the guests are seated right before the wedding. It seems they could have sprayed it, lit some torches, something! The bridesmaids were trying to stand still and the flower girl was crying because she was getting bitten up. And the room was way overpriced and in need of updating. There was a huge red-brown stain on the ancient wallpaper in the bathroom. I don't even want to know. When we got hungry we had to drive to the resort's restaurant which was only doing take out at the time so we had to drive back to our room to eat. And there weren't really any other choices nearby and we didn't want to get lost on the poorly-signed island to find somewhere else to eat. If I ever have reason to go to SSI again, I'll stay in Brunswick.
