Connaissez-vous le beurre de cacao?
Il est protecteur cutané, nourrissant, adoucissant et assouplissant. Il est indiqué pour la peau sèche et dégage un arôme de chocolat. . – Hélène Berton

If you're going there for your hobby - by all means. They have a wide selection, workshops and friendly staff. And their web platform is pretty well made and easy to use! It loved it when I found these guys :) But if you are running a business, I would avoid the Coop and look for more reliable suppliers. I was happy to find a place in Montreal where I could buy all my raw materials, and support a local business at the same time. However, they are really bad at managing their business which put me in trouble one too many times before. Here are things that happened: 1.They promised to email or call me when certain products I was looking for were back in stock and never did. I had to run after them and call myself. This happened twice. 2.They sold me little bottles with 5% of the caps missing (It was a large order, which is why we did not notice at pickup) 3.They are ALWAYS missing some ingredients in stock, and do not know reliably when they will receive them. And it's not like I ask them for things last minute - I would be willing to wait 1-2 weeks if only they could guarantee a delivery date. None of it is malicious, but it is just a sign of mismanagement that worry me as I grow my own business and have to rely more and more on my suppliers. If you have deadlines, look for someone that can manage inventory better or has a good supply chain.

First of all, thank you for your comments. We sorry to hear that your experience was not completely satisfying. We are taking your feedback seriously and the team is making every effort to improve our processes and communication. Please note that the supply of natural raw materials is subject to environmental and political fluctuations, and is thus often not under our control. Feel free to contact us again should you require any further information.

Great inventory/products and cute place. I went there 3 times with my girlfriend. The first time she wanted to have general information, which she had. The 2 other times were bad experiences. The people working there could not help her at all. She was even referred to read a book to get the information (not an easy-to-read/customer friendly/understandable pamphlet). If you want to sell products, you should at least be able to guide the customer toward the ones that would fit her, know a bit about the quantity needed, etc. I think it's a nice place but the employees are not trained enough to answer basic questions.

Hello Pier-Luc, Thanks for your comment. We have hundreds of products that can be used for cosmetic, naturopathic and culinary purposes. The customer service staff are trained in the basics of DIY cosmetics production. If you have more advanced questions then we will gladly pass them along to our technical support or quality control teams. Please note that we are subject to Canadian laws that prevent us from counselling customers on the medicinal or health uses of any product. It’s for these reasons that we keep books on hand for easy and free consultation in store. These books are awesome resources for more advanced information on cosmetics formulation, recipes, and health issues. Certain of these books are also available for purchase both in store and on-line.

If there was a rating for 0 stars, it would have been that. Service big 0. I went there 5 minutes before closure since I got delayed by traffic. The girl at the encounter did not want to serve me at all and she kept on telling me that she closed her cash. I knew exactly what I wanted, it would have taken 30 seconds. I mean if it was past 8pm, I would understand but clearly she just wanted to close and leave.

I can't believe I've lived in Montreal all my life and never knew about this store! I found it online and it has everything I need, I have to be super careful because I have many allergies. When I went, the sales staff helped me choose what I needed and was very helpful. I am so relieved I can get all organic ingredients for my skin now, all in one place, with staff who care about my sensitivities and allergies.

I like that we at least have a store like this in Montreal, but I am not impressed that they are taking advantage of that. Their prices are much higher than they should be. The prices for essential oils, vegetable oils and tools are most often double the price of the same quality that I can find online or in other stores (for the tools). I do like the quality of the products, however every time I have been, their shelves were not stocked with at least one thing that I needed. Also, I find their loyalty program really odd. Pay 10$ to become a member and receive 5% off everything I buy? 5% is absolutely nothing compared to how much they are over charging. I do understand that the products are organic, but they don't provide any information on where the oils come from, or how long they have been sitting on the shelf...maybe they are mindful of those things, but its not clear, and I already feel kind of ripped off which leads me to question their credibility... Anyways. I really don't like leaving not-so-great reviews because I understand that it's also contextual (I am also a bit more upset by this because I have to travel for around an hour, hour and a half, on public transit just to get there), but I figured I'd still write it because I don't want others to feel like they only have coco coop as an option, and therefore should put up with paying extra or just feeling disappointed in general.

Hi Connie-Anne, Thanks for taking the time to write this comment. Our products are all followed by lots as required by our internal quality controller as well as our organic certifier (ecocert Canada) in order to be able to trace every individual product. The expiration dates are marked on the right hand side of the labels, and the countries of origin are written both on the English and French side of the labels as well as the website. The purpose of a worker's cooperative is job creation rather than profit, and as such our prices are based solely on our purchase price and overhead. Coop Coco's mission is to bring the consumer the highest quality products available, however organic products are often more expensive due to supply and demand. Please let us know if you need further information. Team Coop Coco

They have everything from eco-friendly diapers to essential oils. They also have excellent staff available for help and they offer classes.
