Has anyone here actually had a good look at Pulp Egypt?
Id like to know what its like!
Maybe useful for Achtung! Cthulhu Fate/FAE games
Or any of those other Glorious Pulpy possibilities #SpiritofTheCentury #AchtungCthulhu

I have a few times seen mentioned one of folks criticism of Fate Accelerated is that it doesnt suit longer campaigns as character advancement is too quick.

This being because +1 on an approach is "bigger" than +1 on a skill (the latter also restricted by Pyramid constraints)

If frequent increments are important at your table, why not introduce another step or two between the times that the chars advance +1 on approaches?
I was thinking perhaps a this milestone granting usual minor benefits plus an "Edge token" - that when spent grants a single reroll. Less powerful than increasing an approach but still very useful.

Hello, I've been out of the Cthulhu publications world for a long time (say mid 1990s), so I dont know the range of what is out there "these days".

Can anyone recommend any scenarios or sources for N Africa or more specifically Egyptian games? My game is WW2 era but, 20s stuff would also be very useful.

So we finished our Fate Accelerated play of Achtung! Cthulhu "Three Kings" tonight.

I think everyone had fun, (I did!). This face to face group did much better than my online players at avoiding the potential horrible mythos manifestations... After discussing it here with various including the helpful +Nathan Roberts I decided that because of their good planning I should give them their victory and reward their good p!ay, rather than drop another terror upon them just because as GM, I could.
Highlights for me included the PCs nicknaming Pt Petersen, their npc sidekick team member: "Can't Shoot Petersen" and when a crazed priest inaccessible amidst a group of civilians who in mid shouting of "and the Lord will smite them down..." Is silenced (knocked out) by a can of corned beef thrown by Daphne Lady Fitz Edgerton (making full use of her "in training they were surprised by my athleticism" aspect).
They had some tense battle scenes with a nazi garrison, got to be heroic.
Explosions ensue, exit team, stage left.

They asked for another mission (that's a good sign!)

After a long hiatus (one of the team was working abroad) we return this week to Czechoslovakia 1939 to complete our FAE play of "Three Kings" for Achtung! Cthulhu.
It was going jolly well and i think everyone was having lots of fun.

The trouble is unbeknownst to my players, they made a very sensible choice, which derails the big mythos climax of the story! It was one of those moments that relates but is the reverse of, a recent topic elsewhere about Fate and investigation games where i mentioned players missing a clue, could derail the fun of the plot as written. Here, the opposite: the players got the clue so well, they took pre emptive action so well, and bang! Plot derailed.

Now as a result, the mission is either resolved as largely a military adventure, OR I come up with something completely new as a mythos hazard, that wasnt in the scenario as written. I havent decided which to do yet.

I guess this is always a potential difficulty with published adventures, but I use them so rarely, I had completely forgotten!
