Nice to see the new Hangouts has fixed the iPhone MMS issue where images came in that lame slide show thumbnail format.  About time!

So I hooked up this bad boy to my chair. It's great for scarring the crap out of me while playing games.

Visual Studio Help Tip - Tags:  MSDN Sucks, Help that works

Thought I would post this tip for people that use Visual Studio and HATE MSDN help that pops up when you press F1.  The idea is to remap your F1 key to a macro.  Instead of loading MSDN it will launch Chrome and search on the item that you have highlighted.

(Non C# peeps make sure to change csharp to whatever language you are using ex: VB, F#)

Open Visual Studio. Hit Alt-f11
Paste macro into MyMacros - Module 1
Add reference for System.Web
Save and Close

Go to Tools-Options
Create a Global map
Select GoogleSearch as the command
Shortcut key is F1
Make sure to hit assign

That's it, Google is now your help. Life is now good.
(for those wondering what is wrong with MSDN...  Well first off it only searches the Microsoft universe, for example if you are using Oracle, jQuery, Knockout.js, Mongo  or anything non Microsoft... the search is worthless.  I found myself constantly going to Google to do the searches and I figured I would automate it. Also, MSDN examples blow and I'm sure you end up on Stackoverflow as much as I do...  Google searching just makes more sense.)

Here is the macro:

  Sub GoogleSearch()
        Dim url As String
        Dim searchFor As TextSelection = DTE.ActiveDocument.Selection()
        Dim search = System.Web.HttpUtility.UrlEncode(searchFor.Text)
        'DTE.ExecuteCommand("View.URL", url)
        Dim fileName As String = DTE.ActiveDocument.FullName
        Dim extension As String = fileName.Split(".")(fileName.Split(".").Length - 1)

        Select Case extension.ToLower()
            Case "js"
                url = "javascript+" + search
            Case "css"
                url = "css+" + search
            Case "txt"
                url = search
            Case "xml"
                url = "xml+" + search
            Case "config"
                url = "csharp+config+" + search
            Case "cshtml"
                url = "html+" + search
            Case "html"
                url = "html+" + search
            Case Else
                url = "csharp+" + search
        End Select
        System.Diagnostics.Process.Start(Environment.GetFolderPath(Environment.SpecialFolder.LocalApplicationData) + "\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe", "www.google.com/search?q=" + url)
    End Sub
