Your home’s structural integrity depends on the strength of your foundation. It supports everything else – walls, windows, floors, doorways, roof – so when your foundation is damaged, it can cause serious problems throughout your home.

Like most things in life, your foundation is subject to environmental stress. Expanding and contracting soil, excessive moisture and inadequate drainage are some of the most common threats to your home’s foundation. Over time, environmental stressors can cause a foundation to shift, crack or settle unevenly. And homeowners often miss early warning signs of foundation damage.

Homeowners spend about $4 billion annually stabilizing faulty foundations, and those costs may increase as more homes are built in areas known for shifting soil.

Understanding risk factors and signs of foundation problems can help you protect your most valuable asset from irreversible damage.

I noticed some cracks in my sheet rock and some pulling away of the walls from the ceiling. I was very concerned that my house may have a foundation problem. I made an appointment for Olshan to have an expert access the situation. The technical arrived right on time, asked to see the areas I was concerned about. He did a thorough inspection of the house inside and out. He was very knowledgeable of the area and ground type. He assured me that what I was seeing was just settling and I didn’t have anything to worry about concerning the house foundation. He even went the extra mile to point out some ground swelling under my driveway that may be caused by rain runoff, and what I may want to try to fix the issue. I feel so wonderful that I called the experts at Olshan, and will recommend them to anyone with concerns about their house foundation.

We not only had new interior pilings installed, but 12 exterior pilings adjusted. We are the second homeowners. At the time we bought the house, Olshan took care of the warranty transfer. Our work was actually scheduled for February 24th, but the Technician who originally came out got the work date moved up to February 9th. All this work only took them two days to complete. The crew was thorough and surprisingly clean. They covered everything with plastic that wasn't moved. When they completed the foundation repair, they cleaned EVERYTHING, including sweeping the floors. They even raked the yard to make sure there weren't any cement rocks left in the grass. My husband and I are extremely pleased with the work and the crew! We just can't say enough good things about the crew!!! Thank you guys!! Great job!

Olshan had the foundation warranty on my home and did the repair work. The foundation department was GREAT. Then, as suggested by Olshan Foundation folks, I called the plumbing department for a follow-up plumbing test to see if the house settling from the work damaged any plumbing pipes under the house. When I called, I asked the person scheduling if I could have a discount since we were only performing the test to half the house (2 bathrooms; not kitchen or laundry). She said, "You'll have to ask Eric (plumber) when he comes out." When Eric came out, the first thing I did after letting him in was ask for a discount (again, only testing one side of the house). He did not answer and asked to see the work. Confusion started happening. Long story very short, Eric starting asking me do you want to test “fresh water” or “waste water”? I admit, I was having a hard time concentrating on Eric’s technical lingo since I was trying to get back to a huge job on my desk (I work out of my house). I thought I had been clear when I set up the appointment: HYDROSTATIC TEST OF THE AREA WHERE THE FOUNDATION WORK WAS PERFORMED. Turns out Eric performed 2 different tests due to my confusion, each at $195 bucks for a total of $390. Eric never said, “This test is $195 and the second test is ANOTHER $195.” Make it easy for the customer – talk about the cost at the same time. I called the department supervisor, Bill Bywaters. Bill said he had talked to Eric and could see both sides, He then went on to say, “I would have offered you a discount for both services.” But, he did not and had them bill my credit card for the full $390. Then, it turned out that Eric had only done HALF the job. He missed a clean out hidden under some dirt. All he had to do was wipe away the dirt or ask me. After talking again with Bill, Eric was sent back out to my house. He arrived with NO appointment or phone call. I work out of my house and stopped everything I was doing to let him get the darn test finished. I have tried calling Bill Bywaters 3 times since Olshan charged my credit card $390. No return calls. Now, the person answering the Olshan phone says they NO LONGER HAVE VOICE MAIL. Come on…he had voicemail last week, but this week he does not? Seems shortsighted of Olshan not to work with me for the larger job of digging under my house to fix the leak we found in the master bathroom. I feel it is fair for Olshan to offer me a substantial discount due to no clarity concerning costs, wasting my time for a second visit and not honoring the supervisor plainly saying he would have offered me a discount.

Hello Ms. Collins, We are sorry to hear about the confusion you experienced with the plumbing team member. You should be receiving a check for the discount this week. We are glad to hear about the positive experience you did have with the foundation repair warranty team. Please give us a call at 713-223-1900 if you have any further questions. Thank you for choosing Olshan Foundation Repair.

So far I just have an estimate and emailing questions back and forth, but knowing Olshan and their reputation, I'm sure we will close the deal in a day or two. The technician is fantastic and knows housing construction, not just how to repair a foundation problem. I've known about Olshan for years, but a friend of mine said, "call this tech...he's fantastic". So I did. I'll report again after the work is in progress and/or completed.

We had an excellent experience with Olshan representative Allen who was here to evaluate our foundation on Tuesday, 3/17/2015 at 3:30 PM. Allen was very truthful and took his time to evaluate all the issues that we explained to him and evaluated the whole house. He explained to us to make sure that we do run the sprinkler system every day for few minutes to keep our foundation healthy. He explained that only one corner was little less than quarter of an inch off and that I would not need any work done. We appreciate honest opinion. By the way I had invited four Foundation fixers to evaluate our foundation and provide proposal. Three of them showed up, two found no issues including Olshan and one vendor slept me with a 5000 Dollar proposal to fix (NOTHING). THANK YOU once again for a very satisfied customer. We will never forget to recommend OLSHAN to all our friends. Anwar and Yasmin Motan 12527 Juniper Crossing Houston TX 77041

Mr. J.B. Duffield was was superb! He called to say he was running 15 minutes late, and asked if it would be a problem. (It wasn't) He walked with us around the outside of the house and discussed the drainage issue we had in our back yard. Then he came inside, took some readings and announced that we were fine! No foundation problems at all! He could have conned us but was honest and we really appreciate that. We would not hesitate to recommend him, and Olshan to our neighbors and friends.

Horrible customer service, the secretary hung up when I asked a simple question and said "we're not interested" do not know what that means exactly, but after that she would not pick up the phone.

Hello Mr. Vargas, We are sorry to hear about your experience. Unfortunately our customer service team does not accept calls soliciting business services. Keeping our phone lines open for existing customers is our #1 priority. You are welcome to email us at olshan@olshanfoundation.com in the future.

First, let me say you will find that Olshans is great at what they do, but not so great at what they try to do such as Customer Service. I had a meeting with Dale Speas who doesn't realize he should not talk politics with Customers. After telling me how he makes 200k a year, he then blasted the ACA and Obama. This coming from a man who gets Veterans benefits and has a grandchild who gets Medicaid. I asked him if he didn't believe in Socialized Medicine why does he use the VA or Medicaid. Next I faxed in the signed agreement. I called to insure that they had it and was told yes, needless to say it had not been received. They then came and did the work. The supervisor was from Africa and had only been in the US for two months. It appears that everything was done correctly, but although I had an appointment to have a senior supervisor come out, no one showed. I am sure that they are so busy that they can't keep up, but I hope that someone would realize it before it is to late.
