Awesome bar. Except a bartenderess made fun of some patrons who ordered water at the end of the night. When confronted she refused to apologize and give water.

Went here after work with coworkers on a Friday night. While the sun is still out, it can be hard to see distinguish everyone in there (from the back). The drinks are decently priced and there is a good atmosphere. If you're looking to try something new, they have house cocktails that are really good! I loved the one with pink grapefruit vodka (can't remember the name). They take cards here too, which is a plus!

I went here for a birthday party earlier this year and a date the year before. Plusses: - They have a good cocktail menu with some creative ingredients. They get the details right, including marinating their cherry garnishes. - The decor is interesting as a conversation starter, with photography on the walls. It's a fun atmosphere - trendy and young. - It's near Smitten, so that's always a plus :). There are other good food options nearby, too. Minuses: - It's a pretty small space with not a lot of seating room, so you will be standing around.

What it used to be the oldest Drag Queen bar in SF (Marlenas) is now Brass Tacks. After a full renovation the place looks completely different, very modern, very cool chandelier and drinks are good. Probably because I miss how authentic Marlenas was but I'm not feeling the warm and fuzzy at this bar. Yes, it's nice, great location, good drinks but there's nothing unique that differentiates this bar from many others in the city. Service is very ok, again, not very neighborhood-like. Hopefully I'll warm up to it.

What a stuck up bar. It's great that it's open till 2am compared to other bars down the street, but the bartenders have a serious bad attitude. Drinks are not that great anyway. There is plenty of standing room, though, with a roomy area in the back with seats on the side. I guess if you don't have to interact with the bartenders and don't get stepped on or elbowed in the face, it won't be such a terrible experience.

Hip and laid back, this is a great bar to get together on a date or for drinks with friends. I was feeling a bit cheap so I stuck to a high gravity beer, but there were a lot of great cocktail options passed around in the group. I love that you won't tear out your vocal chords trying to have a conversation in here and the bartenders are pretty relaxed. All in all, a fine place to grab a drink before or after dinner.

Brass Tacks is a great little bar in Hayes Valley with quality cocktails, a good selection of liquor and beer and good service. Its a small, narrow bar but the selection of booze is good and the bartenders are all very friendly and service is quick. This place used to be drag bar but has since been converted. Perfect for a drink between stops in Hayes Valley or happy hour. Prices are fair and atmosphere is very causal. They don't have a kitchen but they do sell pretzels.

Heard about this place because one of my favorite bartenders works here! Came by with a bunch of friends on a Thursday night and was surprised to find it packed (but not too packed). Same owners as Bloodhound, it's a really cute place with a great ambiance. All the bartenders seemed really nice too. They would come up to US and ask if we'd been help yet, which usually never happens since bartenders like to be waved and shouted at in order to get their attention. I've only sampled a few of their drinks and they were hit and miss. The first two I had, I didn't like much. The two after weren't too bad though. I'll definitely come back to try their other things though and since it's such a nice, chill spot.
