If you don't know,,, http://ow.ly/6hMr30lqeoG With the help of friends I have produced 2 episodes on my #AfroArchives radio show on the topic of #locs. A chance to delve into the #ChastityJones case and ask "would you cut your locs, for a job?" This brings up matters of #race, #identity, #culture, and at the heart of it, a question of #discrimination against #blackwomen through the control of their #hair. With leading expert Professor Wendy Greene guiding us on the facts of the case, and voices of women at various stages of their locsing journey, we hope to help raise the stakes on this case - it may be hair, but it's also a court decision with global effect. "The mind is restless, unsteady,
hard to guard, hard to control.
The wise one makes it straight,
like a fletcher straightens an arrow.

How good it is to rein the mind
Which is unruly, capricious, rushing wherever it pleases.
The mind so harnessed will bring one happiness.

Your worst enemy cannot harm you
as much as your own unguarded thoughts.
A well-directed mind creates more happiness
Than even the loving actions of your parents"

Buddha Shakyamuni, quoted by Joseph Goldstein

The power of circle, the beauty of sharing cultural experiences.

I was invited to host a women's themed event supporting "The Barber Shop Chronicles" currently showing at the National Theatre . I took my research from my Afro Archives project & we shared hair stories.
