had my membership for about two weeks now, every time i go there, wether it be after school at around 4:30, later on in the evening at about 7, its pretty much been empty, people there arent dodgy at all and this gym is generally very well equipped, and has a nice atmosphere.

As of 2015 the gym has switched to a budget chain and has been refitted - basically new showers, paint job, walls have been knocked through to make it more open plan, mirrors repaired and the flooring is gradually being replaced. For £19.95 a month it isn't bad and since I live a 4 minute jog away I'm a member for convenience mostly. There is usually no problems getting on cardio equipment but I find that certain X trainers/AMTs lack resistance and need repairing. They have a good set of weights machines for isolation exercises. The freeweights area cant really cope at peak times (space for 3 people using benches). If they maybe lost a couple of cardio machines it could be expanded slightly. Staff are friendly (the old owners decided to sell up last year) although they seem to move on quite regularly. Now that they are budget chain you get your fair share of young f***wits in there, dropping weights, staying on the same piece of equipment for over half an hour, using two pieces of equipment at the same time (and not letting you on), using poor form and crashing the weight stacks. For the price I guess you cant have everything. Peak evening time (5-7pm), especially Mondays can be really crowded but it is ok in the off peak. I go at weekends, late morning or early evening and it isn't too crowded. I've no idea how the nearby Gym Group compares but I imagine it is even busier.

Great gyms with a great refurbishment plan underway by the new owners/managment. Great offer of only £19.99 per month and improved facilities!

Good place with fairly new equipment. Prices are moderate and the gym is not too crowded. Works for me!

Friendly and has everything you need. Yes, it's a bit smaller than some gyms - but I go to work out, and it's perfect for those who just want to get on with it. There are a range of classes, a good studio with punch bags, always hot showers, steam room, free coffee and sweets in reception. I also got an unbeatable price for a long-term sign-up (pay up front). So for me - good value for money.

Fast becoming a no go area and disgusting gym - This used to be great gym and that's why i have been a member for a number of years - but recently it have become a sorry excuse for what should and could be a nice gym. the equipment is often broken, some machines haven't been repaired for months and have been out of use. Many of the pins are missing from the machines. The benches are torn with foam oozing out, the mirrors are cracked and shattered and have been covered with tape. The previous owner sold to new management, who other than changing some light bulbs do not appear to have done much to help improve the look and feel of the gym.

The place is ok-ish, nothing to highlight. The trouble is getting your money back if you were overcharged. I've been charged for extra month, asked to get my money back 5 times and never received any refund. Think twice before joining and cancel your direct debit in bank as soon as you decide to leave.
