Took my two elderly Aunts for dinner to 88 Wharf. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience! Our server was fantastic. The food was delicious. Had the pleasure of meeting Jim/James one of the cooks/chefs. He was a very well spoken polite young man who was very kind to both of my Aunts. They both had a wonderful time. We will definitely be back again!

I bought a Groupon for four and used it in March. Without question this was the worst dining experience of my life. 88 Wharf has a COOK, not a chef. There is a total absence of kitchen management. All the dishes were served warm at best. The cook has no knowledge of food seasoning. We had to endure this unpleasantness for more than two hours while numerous patrons voiced their dissatisfaction and left. We, unfortunately, were locked into this third rate dive by our Groupon. There are hundreds of great restaurants in and around Boston, 88 Wharf is not one of them.

88 Wharf is reliably good. They have a varied menu, they are willing to help out with special requests (e.g. vegetarians) and everything is consistently good. The service is just right too--attentive without being intrusive. It's a great place to go after work and meet up with friends or for just me and my sweet baby to go on a quiet night. I've been there a bunch of times and I've never had a meal that wasn't very good to great.

We sat at the bar and got a drink and some apps. Service was great and very attentive (it wasn't busy either). I had the blood orange cocktail which was hard not to drink all at once because it was so delicious. I recall not liking artichokes. But then I had their dip and I love them now! I've tried artichokes several ways before and there's always been something about them that I don't like, but not this time. Very creamy. Maybe that's why I liked it. But I was going for the chunks of artichoke... We also got fries which were so salty (in a good way). Had to keep going back for more.

88 Wharf's space is attractive, welcoming and not crowded. I felt immediately at ease. I was w/two friends and we ordered a bottle of wine. Now what does it take to bring out a bottle of wine? Apparently a lot because the minutes dragged on until finally the waiter brought it. He recommended the corn soup to start and it was excellent. I had the Haddock entree. It was over done, but passable. One friend had the duck duo and said it was excellent. Then a major disappointment: The Lobster L'American. This friend was from the South and I wanted to treat him to real New England lobster. What arrived was a little heap of unappetizing pieces of lobster. What a let down for my friend! Plus the lobster was way overdone. 88 Wharf really needs to re-work their lobster offering. For dessert I had a HUGE brownie. I never thought I's say this, but it was simply too big. Nice big cups of coffee. Very nice way to end the meal. So, the service was indifferent and slow, the food generally a disappointment. This was my first time at 88 Wharf. It will also be my last.

The salads were great. But that was it. Service was very slow but not because of the wait staff. The kitchen took 20 minutes to serve our salads, entrees another long wait. Salads were lovely, but sadly the entrees were not. Our dinners were messy, unseasoned and presented with no sauce. The presentation of the dishes did not live up to menu description. I think there is not a trained chef in this kitchen. Very disappointed. Sigh.

The ambience was very inviting and relaxing. The service was friendly and attenditive. The menu was limited and pricey but the food was delicious and served in a timely fashion. I would definitely recommend 88 Wharf as a great place for quiet dinning experience.
