RJI is a world-class center for researching and testing new models of journalism.
Introduction
The Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute works with citizens, journalists and researchers to strengthen democracy through better journalism.  RJI seeks out the most exciting new ideastests them with real-world experimentsuses social science research to assess their effectiveness and delivers solutions  that citizens and journalists can put to use in their own communities.

Want or need to know what's hot, happening around innovation in journalism? Of course, you can find a lot of it here at RJI: research that helps strengthen your business, Futures Lab experiments that create and test apps for major media partners and Reynolds Fellows initiatives that take on a life of their own when they return to their homes and offices.

Chris Hamby of The Center for Public Integrity in Washington, D.C., today won the Pulitzer Prize for Investigate Reporting "for his reports on how some lawyers and doctors rigged a system to deny benefits to coal miners stricken with black lung disease, resulting in remedial legislative efforts."

A University of Missouri team today won a $35,000 micro-grant to create a live news experiment that bridges journalism education, community engagement and local news. The MU project, called "The Town Square," will replace traditional television public affairs programming with social media engagement.

Other 2014-15 Challenge Fund winners: Arizona State University, CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, Florida International University, Georgia Collaborative, San Diego State University, San Francisco State University, Texas State University, University of Illinois, University of New Mexico, University of Oklahoma and University of Wisconsin-Madison.
