The Divergence between Wages and Worker Productivity

If a worker makes twice as many pies, shouldn't she be paid approximately twice as much?

Not according to republican capitalism. According to republican capitalism, workers should be paid as little as possible in order to maximize profits for CEOs and Shareholders. According to republican capitalism, The Minimum Wage is a violation of the Fundamental Right of Job Creators to pay workers as little as possible.

According to the principles of Democratic Capitalism, there should be a relationship between worker productivity and worker wages, otherwise there is something corrupt with the system. In other words, corporations have gotten so big and powerful that they effectively have monopolies (and monopsonies) so that they don't have to worry about competition and can pay workers as little as possible.

"Ur not satisfied with your pay, then go work for our competitor heh heh heh."

When free markets fail, the Government has to step in and rectify the inefficiency and corruption.

Basically, the republican #Ignoramuses  and corporations have rigged the game in which the corporations make excessive profit which they give a healthy chunk to the Ignoramii who create rules/laws that make it harder to compete with the corporations thereby institutionalizing their monopolies, which leads to increased profit which ends up in the pockets of the Ignoramuses and around and around we go in a #VirtuousCycle  for the Corporations/Ignoramuses and a #ViciousCycle  for the law-abiding 99% of us.

According to republican capitalism, if a worker makes twice as many pies, she should be paid exactly the same amount while the capitalist gets to reap twice as much profit for having the entrepreneurial vision and courage to pay workers as little as possible.

Does anyone dispute these #FACTS ?

"He's a belligerent, loud-mouthed racist without an ounce of compassion for the less fortunate."

Hmm, I (PPKFP) wonder whom Professor Krugman is talking about. I guess if you can't stand the suspense you have the watch the video (9:20).

Moreover as Professor Krugman points out, this mystery person represents your typical hardcore Tea Party republican (i.e. half the republican party).

This is an excellent interview between Bloomberg and Professor Krugman and I (PPKFP) recommend that you watch the whole thing. He talks about Greece (of course, his blog post went viral on Twitter yesterday https://goo.gl/586SbE), President Clinton v2.0's Excellent economic plan, and has an amusing one-liner about "modern" "moderate" Democrats.

Interestingly he also had some interesting comments about Puerto Rico (which he blogged on last week http://goo.gl/Xwi77x), most notably stating that the minimum wage in Puerto Rico is too high. Whaaaaat?!? How could the Liberal , nay Socialist Professor Krugman state that the minimum wage is too high in some place in America.

It is because like all Liberals Professor Krugman relies on Reason and Logic and Data, three things that are as foreign to republican #Ignoramuses  as baklava. Your wage should depend on your productivity (http://goo.gl/T04qDC), and worker productivity in Puerto Rico is much lower than in the mainland U.S. As a result workers in Puerto Rico should be paid less. This is not #RocketScience  people, it is good ole fashion common sense (which is totally lacking in the corrupt #Ignoramuses ).

What President Clinton v2.0 will undoubtedly bring up is the #FACT  that worker productivity and worker compensation (wages) started to diverge in 1980 (http://goo.gl/zpssup) with productivity continuing to increase while wages did not (except for the period from 1992-2000 during the administration of President Clinton v1.0, just look at the graph). Why is that? What happened in 1980?

You know the answer. In 1980, we elected the worst president in U.S. history who kick-started the gross economic #Inequality  that plagues us today by making drastic cuts to the taxes of the Extreme Wealthy (which is exactly what all 17 Doo Doo Platter candidates want to do; no not want to do, are being paid to do).

Anyways, I am off-topic. Watch the video. Professor Krugman provides clear and concise answers to some good questions from the Bloomberg reporters.
Economist and Nobel laureate Paul Krugman talks about Greece's debt agreement with European leaders and the outlook for the Greek economy. Krugman also discusses the campaign of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and Puerto Rico's debt crisis. He speaks with Alix Steel and Joe Weisenthal on Bloomberg Television's

So Delicate

I was happy to be able to photograph this lovely butterfly. When a little girl spotted the same butterfly and started toward it, I was amazed it remained still and allowed her to touch it! I am sure it was alive as I saw it land, and then take off shortly after this photo was taken. I think this little scenario made for an interesting shot.

"Suppose you consider Tsipras an incompetent twerp. Suppose you dearly want to see Syriza out of power. Suppose, even, that you welcome the prospect of pushing those annoying Greeks out of the euro.

Even if all of that is true, this Eurogroup list of demands is madness. The trending hashtag #ThisIsACoup is exactly right. This goes beyond harsh into pure vindictiveness, complete destruction of national sovereignty, and no hope of relief. It is, presumably, meant to be an offer Greece can’t accept; but even so, it’s a grotesque betrayal of everything the European project was supposed to stand for."
