I started working on the Internet back in '96. I landed an internship as a high school senior programming websites. From '96 to '99 I did some freelance work while attending the University at Buffalo (UB) for my Computer Science degree. In 1999 I had 2 job offers, both for web programming positions. One paid $17 / hr, the other $7 / hr; I took the $7 / hr job because I felt the company would be able to teach me more (one of the top 5 decisions that affected my life).
In 2001 I graduated from UB and swore off school for good. By the end of the year, I was enrolled in the University of Phoenix's MBA program. 3-1/2 years later I earned my MBA with a focus on eBusiness. I again swore off school (and this time meant it!).
Back at my programming job, I soon found myself supervising the programmers of the company, and then promoted to Manger of Operations (basically, make sure the websites get built in time). At its peak, I had up to 15 people reporting to me (Project Managers, Graphic Artists, HTML Developers, PHP Programmers and Interns).
In early 2005 I decided to take an offer which aligned me with an affiliate based out of London who needed a fulltime programmer. For the next 4 years, I was the project manager and programmer for his websites, responsible for finding & managing the graphic artists, building the sites, and keeping them optimized for performance.
During the summer of 2008, I launched my first truly successful affiliate website, and in April of 2009, focused on affiliate marketing full-time. I focus on SEO and PPC, and use my programming background as my competitive edge.
At home, I'm married (10 years) with 3 kids (son Jason 12, daughters Becca 8 & Morgan 6). Although I work from home, I'm up at 5AM (or earlier) every day to hit the gym then my Border Collie & I go up to my office in the attic. I'm a Cub Scout leader and enjoy the outdoors (especially Geocaching). I go a bit overboard with Christmas, love watching Lost, and try to live an eco-friendly life.
