Great article about FreshBooks. I'm pleased to say that I'll soon be joining Mike, Warren and the rest of the FreshBooks team!

This is one of the great things we've been building at Shopify in the past year. This project in particular is what pulled me away from Google and it's been a great year working with the team building it!

Awesome feature of Canadian money. Almost makes up for its not-so-awesome feature of a plummeting value.

That is actually nicely done - challenging to replicate but dead simple to verify. Also: science.

+Tesla Motors - a day late and many dollars too much. Yesterday we ordered a +Volvo Cars XC90 PHEV instead.

We'd paid $5000 (refundable) 15 months ago to be 687 on the Canadian Model X wait list (~16,000 worldwide). But the wait has been too long. We discovered the XC90 over the weekend - a plug-in electric hybrid with a 40km electric range and 7 seats. We don't usually drive 40km in a day, so we expect to buy gas as infrequently as with our current Volt.

We're paying 83k CAD for a top end XC90 - Nappa leather, walnut interior, heated everything and features that approach Autopilot. Pricing a similarly equipped Model S is 120k CAD - with a Model X probably 10k more. (We were able to see, touch and drive actual XC90s but can only speculate about the Model X.) Our XC90 will be here in March - there's still no date for the first Model X in Canada.

We loved you +Tesla Motors, but we could only wait so long. Others are finally catching up and offering lovely, environmentally friendly vehicles that actually exist for far less...
Still pricey, but a far cry from the $135,000 that the first Signature (fully loaded, special edition) vehicles were priced at.

Some things bind us together as humans. Traumatic childhood memories of primitive toilet facilities is one of those unifying experiences. Wars could be averted if we bonded over the particular species of hole-in-the-ground in our respective countries. This article could have been written about the out-houses at friends' cottages in Canada. Or about the "black hole of Kolkata" at a relative's otherwise lovely home near Paris.

Holy crap... If you're looking for a job with an online retail platform where you won't be crying at your desk, let me know. I have some open desks in my office - with free lunch and coworkers who are talented enough to find the best solution to tough problems without marathon conference calls on Easter Sunday.

What is this, I don't even...

http://gearjunkie.com/bike-mom-seven-kids

I've been trying to figure out how I will haul two kids to school this fall.  I saw a lovely video once of a lady of a bike with a cabin up front that seemed to have seats for 4 kids sitting upright and comfortable with seatbelts.  I haven't seen it since (and so can't find the brand)
