Food and travel, one of life’s great experience intersections. Although we enjoy our share of refined cuisine and elaborate meals at restaurants, it’s often our street food quests — raw on-the-ground journeys that convey authenticity — that yield some of life’s most revealing moments and enlighten us in unexpected ways.

During our last visit to Tanzania we visited a couple of Maasai villages involved in a +Planeterra Foundation  clean stoves project. Our mind was blown by how such a relatively inexpensive ($60) and seemingly mundane-sounding cooking device can make a huge difference to the health and quality of life of families that use it. Just try sitting for 2 minutes in a hut with a traditional stove if you don't believe us.

Honored to have been asked by BBC Travel to write about how we made the big decision to quit our jobs all those years ago on what was meant to be a 12-18 month creative sabbatical and how we've managed to do all this together...and stay married along the way

Never would I have imagined that a photo of us and the story of our journey would be on the home page of BBC.com. Life is full of surprises

Should travelers give money, pens or other things to children who beg? Is this really helping the places we visit? Or the best way to give?

Our recent trip to East Africa got us thinking about this issue a lot. In this article we share 7 reasons why you shouldn't give directly to kids + 7 ways to give responsibly and effectively. What are your thoughts on this issue?
