This made me realize how different it even feels in my body when I have been loving with expectations or loved unconditionally. The latter is more challenging (I'm working on it), but feels so much better.

A little something I wrote for my website a couple weeks back about choosing Love over Fear.

The body is first of the many layers that surround the human personality, each less physical than the one before.
As awareness is withdrawn from these layers of consciousness one by one, the sages gradually made another astonishing discovery: The powers of mind has no power of their own; the mind is not consciousness rather it is an instrument of consciousness.
When the awareness is withdrawn from mind, YOU remain aware. When this happens you realize you are not the mind, anymore than you are the physical body.
So deep in consciousness, that phenomena of the surface seem as remote as childhood dream.
But gradually you become aware of the presence of something vast, intimately your own but not at all finite, limited self you had been calling " I ".

Space is gone, time is so attenuated that it scarcely seems real. This is a taste of shanti -- the peace that passeth understanding.

OM Shanti Shanti Shanti
(invoked at the end of every Upanishad as a reminder of this sublime state)

- Derived from Upanishads

Thank you for inviting me as well.  I hope we can drive some great discussion here.  :)

Hi everyone, I'm Ryan Tasker, from the Toronto area!

I discovered meditation back when I was around 15 (I'm 33 now!) and I've been enjoying it and allowing it to help me throughout my life.  I'm hoping to learn a lot more about meditation (since nobody can really know everything!) and spirituality in general.

I've been on a very spiritual focused path lately, becoming a better person, learning to treat others with kindness.  It's not easy and I'm tested on a daily basis, but anything hard is worth doing, right!  :)

Right now, I spend a lot of my free time jotting my thoughts and ideas down.  I'd love to share some sometime.  :)
