Hello everyone,

Just to share with you the upcoming release of Dikalo.
Our GWT based messaging platform.

We took another approach on messaging. No phone nr. No email. no social id. In fact not even a registration is required to use Dikalo. As a user you decide how, when and with whom you share your private information

We launched in beta on Dec 6th 2016 and around 1 million users are now on the platform. with more than almost 450 million messages sent. So we cant be more proud.

We use GWT (Errai) to target the web, ios, android, windows, mac and linux using different wrappers.

Without GWT I dont think we would be able to target so many platform from one code base with the ressources we have.

I m the only developper on the team :) :)

Can wait to hearing your feedback on this.

Cheers,

Alain

Hello folks,

I have this GWT app that takes lots of time to load on mobile. Specially on slow networks. What would be the best way to reduce initial loading time. I know of Code Splitting. Is there any other technique? I m using maven,

Cheers,

Alain

Hey folks,

after a while of inactivity I m planing to move the ahomé toolkits to GWT8. But I havent used JsInterop that much.

Is there a good example of a JsInterop based library out there ?

Cheers,

Alain

Aight GWT folks.

A month and a half ago I presented Dikalo here. Our realtime messaging platform that works without phone numbers, emails, facebook id or anything. In fact you can use Dikalo without even opening an account.

We launched on Dec 5th 2016 and have now around 2.5M million messages sent on Dikalo. For us this is pretty encouraging.

So how is Dikalo built ?

Dikalo is all GWT.

The UI is based on wrapper around Ext JS. We then used a wrapper for NWJS to export Dikalo to native apps for Mac, Linux and Window. The Wrapper helped us use native desktop api all in Java.

The backend is built on top of a fork of Errai. We enhenced the WebSocket based MessageBus to meet our needs.

Today we released the mobile client for Android in early access. The mobile clients are native and build with a wrapper for titanium mobile. Allowing us to deploy to Android, iOs and Windows phone from the same GWT source.

If you like to play with it you can download Dikalo for Android from here: https://welcome.dklo.co/downloads/
or from DropBox: https://www.dropbox.com/s/6aoe4f3c259op8l/Dikalo.0.0.1.apk?dl=0

As you can see we use one single code base to target all the platform we need.

All this would nt have been possible without GWT.

What do you guyz think ? :) :) :)

Cheers,

Alain

Hey folks,

Just wanted to take a few minutes to thanks all the people involved in making GWT happen.

Most of the time people just complain. But this is such a great toolkit.

For a small startup like ours with very limited ressources this has been a live saver.

One code to target the web, the desktop(mac, window, linux), native mobile (ios, android, windows) all that in java would have never been possible without you folks.

THANK YOU SOOO MUCH !

You around ?

Hi people,

We've spent the last 18 months working on Dikalo in order to change the way people do messaging.

So what is Dikalo?

Dikalo is an realtime messaging platform that helps you communicate with anyone just with a simple key or link. Because Dikalo is designed to work only with a code you can use it without ever setting up an account. No Email, No phone number, no sign up required. Ever.

You create a conversation, share the key with the person you want to connect with. Thats it. For ever

We wanted to build a messaging app that you can use for all occasions. Not only with friends and family. But also with people you dont know(maybe you are buying/selling something online). With people you just met(maybe at a conference). Or with people you are just connected for a short period of time (maybe a business transaction)

With Dikalo you decide what private information you share with whom. We do not force you to share anything with us before even sending the first message. You are in total control.

Today we are launching in beta on the web and desktop for windows, mac and linux. Native mobile apps will come mid January.

Dikalo can be found here : https://dklo.co
or download the desktop clients here: https://dklo.co/downlads

Here's the story behind Spark and why we created it:

We cant wait to hear what you think

I just shared a story about why we are creating a new messaging platform even tho there are so many big names in the space.

Read it here and let me know what you think
