Venus Setting

There was this day; this day, when the colors of the afterglow felt soft and warm like the familiar embrace of my winter blanket.  This day, when I sensed the sundowner breeze before feeling it on my skin, and I felt refreshed and energized and I knew the season.  This day, when the silence was broken by the sounds of insects and the rhythm was perfect as the soundtrack of this place.  This day, when I knew to look to the west to find Her laughing and beaming brightly.  There was this day when this place felt new and full of potential and there was no judgement in my mind.

Hope

It's cold and grey and gloomy and rain clouds are in the sky and the winter season lingers.  But the natural order of things means that these things will pass and spring is around the corner.  And deep down inside there is a restless energy to create.

You Are Not Alone

I used to think that I didn't fit into this world, and I would look far away to feel connected. Even now there are times when I feel the outsider, the misfit, the odd one out, but I now know there are others that don't conform to what is said to be normal. And there is community in that knowledge.

Hums

Fly here and there,
there and here, & every where,
but if you don't take care,
all day long, stuck seeking sweet air
from flowers with a knack and a flair.

Come to think of it that ain't half bad and certainly not a bare.

Thanksgiving

Grateful for room to roam, when I feel trapped inside.
Grateful for the wild, to stir my soul.
Grateful for new found friends, who inspire.
Grateful to find the path, even though it's full of obstacles.

Sunset

He was raging, angry and intense as I wandered along the path. I had to duck into the forest, hiding from his wrath. The Entlings there, are old and wise and forgotten. They use his wrath to stand tall and together. And in thier shadow I find comfort and at times sadness; sadness for the loss of respect my kind tends to shows for their magic.

As I breathe a deep sigh, I realize the time has flown and he has calmed. And in that place, and in that time, and in a reflective mindset, his beauty is undeniable.

Forest Road

It's easy to get so fixated on arriving at the destination that you miss the amazing things along the journey's path.

Clarity

Some moments pass too fast; some too quick; and some are dream like.

Or maybe it's the sage talking.

Blessing

When light and subject and my focus comes together good things happen.

An Aztec dancer during the Hollywood Forever Dia de los Muertos - Day of the Dead - celebrations catches the light from sunset while performing an Aztec ritual blessing.

Forest

In hind sight, it probably didn't make much sense to hike into the forest for a solar eclipse. And yet in hind-hind sight it makes total sense; hanging out at the edge of a clearing and being able to pop in and out of the shade while watching the progress of the partial eclipse.

Note: photograph was taken during the peak of the partial solar eclipse. And the partial eclipse was viewed through an electronic view finder with heavy darkening filters to protect both eyes and camera equipment.
