Matt grew up in a pizza restaurant. Working with his Father they opened their first restaurant in 1982 in Delta, UT on Main Street. They named it “The Pizza House.” It was there that Matt’s dad developed the slow rising pizza dough used today to make Pizza Pie Café pizza so good!

Matt’s teen years included reading trade magazines and going to Pizza trade shows. At the age of 16 he read “Pizza Tiger”, the story of Tom Monaghan and Domino’s. Matt said, “I knew at that point that I wanted to open my own pizza restaurants and do that for the rest of my life.”

Matt went on to work for various restaurants (too many to list) and in 1991 met his wife while working at “The Brick Oven” (Heaps) in Provo, UT. They always wanted a restaurant of their own, so in 2003 the couple moved to Rexburg, Idaho and took over an abandoned pizza shop called Craigo’s.

They put their talents to work creating Craigo’s Gourmet Pizza. The building quickly became too small and in 2005 Craigo’s moved locations in Rexburg. From humble beginnings as a college hangout, Craigo’s became Pizza Pie Café and what you see today!

We love going to PPC in Orem, but I don't think we'll visit the Highland one again. The food was the same, exactly what I've come to expect from Pizza Pie Cafe. But here, the service really lacked. When we walked in, there wasn't anyone at that counter and when the guy finally came, he didn't greet us, just took the order. There were only a handful of tables that were occupied, so clearly not busy. Some tables hadn't been bussed yet from previous customers, the soda area was messy and sticky, the salad bar area had toppings spilled all over the counter, everything from the forks to the straws needed to be stocked and there were 4 employees sitting at a booth, eating and having fun. A fifth employee was dishing up salad for himself from behind the counter and yet another employee was on his cell phone in the back. Not much selection on dessert pizzas and there were 2 empty dessert pizza pans in the front row that they didn't bother to clear when they added pizzas to the back. I had to have my husband reach in the back to get a slice for me. We were there for about 45 minutes, the 4 employees were still having a great time in the booth when we left. Won't be returning. I like it at the Orem location so much better.

Raised their prices recently. Not quite the value they were, but still pretty good food. last time I went at 11:00 am and it took until 11:30 to get their first pizza out. If you open at 11:00, have food ready to eat.

This is a very good buffet. The price is decent and the service is quite good! There are always plenty of clean tables and the workers are constantly coming around to pick up dirty plates and clean up messes. Now, the food! The salad bar has a pretty good selection of vegetables and other toppings and their ranch dressing is very good. They always have a ton of different pizzas for you to choose from and the cheesy bread sticks are delicious! I love the cookie dough pizza that they have and the raspberry one is pretty good too! They have a large selection of pastas and good sauces that you can combine to create your own favorite flavor! I love to get the carbonara and roasted red pepper sauce on spinach fettucini. It's a great place to eat!

I'm sorry. I was the biggest fan of the Pizza Pie Cafe, until lately. I tried to find a place on the website to send a private message, but there was none. The PPC in Highland has been going down hill the last 6 months. We have been going there for lunch almost weekly since they opened. Good food and good value. Lately every time we went to lunch the place was a total mess. The workers have lost there skip and willingness to serve. Tables have not been wipe off, the salad bar was low or lacking items and looked like a bomb went off. Today the beets were so spoiled that when I took the first bite of salad I started to gag. The person I was with noticed the same thing and refused to eat his salad also. When I sat down my chair was covered in a red sticky stuff that nearly glued me to the seat. When I got back to the office I still had enough residue on my pants that it still felt like velcro when I stood up. I just hope the red stain comes out when they are washed. I am really disappointed. I loved the PPC, and I never complain. But when I see a great establishment go down the toilet, I feel like someone should know. I will never go back. This was the last straw. I wish there was a place on the website for comments, then I wouldn't have share this.

Went there yesterday with some friends. They paid so I can't complain. The service was great, I counted at least two or three times that the young ladies came by to take our finished plates. I would agree with some of the comments that others had said, the pizza isn't the greatest, it is a buffet after all. The only thing I would like to see is frequent checking of the pizzas by the employees. Once the cheese has caramelized, its time to yank them. The dessert pizza is typically what draws me into Pizza Pie Café. One other thing I thought worth mentioning is the restrooms, they were clean and all but I couldn't quite figure out why they weren't gender specific... I guess that is one mystery that may go answered...

Pizza Pie Cafe is a great place to take the family for a meal. There are not a lot of places to eat in Highland and so this is a great choice. The pizza is made fresh and there is a great variety. Salad bar is well stocked and you can also get pasta.
