Some pictures from Weimar. I crossed the Alpes to get there and meet Papa in the Frankfurt airport and then we took a train to Weimar, the city of Goethe, Schiller, Bach, Liszt, Berlioz, Kandinsky, Schopenhauer, Richard Strauss, Wagner and Nietzsche >>>> Look some more here

Last weekend we spent in Nimes, ex outpost of the Roman Empire in France. These are my sketching pauses at the Place of Herbes, in the Bar de Beaux Arts; and L'instant T bar ( it's good to have pencils, glue-stick and adhesive tape in the bag!)

Some more in my blog

Less than a week in Istanbul avec mon Papa -- and then a hundred of little sketches everywhere in my pockets, bags and drawers. Like this -- Our every morning breakfast in the open street café, Blue Mosque outside, and inside. There are PLENTY of others, and also plenty of images in my head for a while, because Istanbul is SO full of colors. A little bit more here -- http://www.watercolor-sketchbook.com/2018/06/istanbul-moments-in-pages.html and I'll show some again! ❤

Norfolk Teddy

Once I found a puny tiny teddy in Norfolk, UK. Someone lost him, and I saved him. It was almost 10 years ago, and this teddy changed a lot of places together with me. So now I wrote down some Nostalgies about these days in Norfolk, Cambridge and Great Snoring village (and also clipped this little video - with this teddy and with Toulouse roofs, here -- https://youtu.be/XrwBYIKidqU ).

Recently we made an amazing travel all together in the little medieval town in the southwestern France, in a region of the Périgord Noir -- Sarlat la Caneda, one of the towns most representative of 14th century France. You can see Sarlat in some movie, for instance in 'Jeanne d’Arc' by Luc Besson. So here are some sketches that I made there quickly --
1. House of Étienne de La Boétie, friend of Montaigne,
2. Kent, waiting for me to go on the Market after a long long coffee time in the morning café on the Grande Place.
3. We're all going to have a real french dinner,
4. John and Mary, choosing the menu,
5. Old street lights,
and 6.Great tree that we saw before leaving to Château de Beynac -- I hope I'll show it in some of the next postes! See You, with ❤

Do you know 'La Dame de Monsoreau' by Dumas, père?

I know a bit as all the Mousquetaires books from a childhood, and by chance I came to the castle, where one of the main personnages, Jean Louis de Nogaret de La Valette, really lived.

This is Château de Caumont, just some 30 km from a house where I live. He was born there, a friend-mignon of Henry III. Thanks to this friendship he became Duke of Épernon, and also became a rather stong person in all those catholical-hugenots-power plots.

The castle is solemn, grand, serious and saturated by centuries. Just a few minutes from home with all daily today-things, and bang, alive history in every brick.

Afterwards this Duke has intricate and complicated relationships with Henry IV. Henry IV stayed in this castle, and his bedroom still exists there. However it's this Duke Épernon who was also involved in hankey-pankey with Ravaillac, Henry IV's killer. Who knows, my dear Watson, who knows...

Anyway my egoistic interest here is just to grab all these beauties and feelings of centuries, and then depict them in my sketchbook (and I've got a great stamp there!)

Another little watercolor sketches from this little town St Félix, where Déodat De Séverac was born and where is the grave of the grand Aldo Ciccolini!

It really gives me a lot of joy and fun --- remembering some wonderful place where I've been maybe long long ago and just scribble it quickly while my breakfast coffee is still hot and while those flashes of memories are so alive.
