About a month and a half ago they changed the menu to tapas style bites. Chicken and beef tongue tacos, and meatballs were all delicious. Decent guac, great atmosphere, and attentive and enthusiastic service added up to a great time for my wife and I. We each ordered about 3 plates and we were stuffed. A beautiful garden/ patio makes this a great place to take kids. I like my margaritas a little less sweet than the ones they served up, so I wish they would juice them up with just fresh limes, dash of cointreu or grand-marnier, and ditch the triple-sec. All in all, not the best mexican in Philly, but this is awesome casual dining and definitely the best in the area. If you haven't been there in a while, try it again!

Overall a very positive experience. Good location, easy parking and good atmosphere. We really enjoyed our appetizers (spare ribs, grilled octopus, calamari) and I liked my entree (sea bass) but not as much as the appetizers. My wife's entree (tamale) was good, but she did not like it that much. The dessert (sweet potato upside down cake) was phenomenal. Overall, I was pleased, and I would return.

Avenida is a fantastic little restaurant with great atmosphere. I was a little misinformed regarding their prices, as this place isn't exactly "budget-friendly." The prices weren't outrageous, though, and the food was terrific. Everyone in my party ordered something different and we loved all of it, especially their AMAZING desserts. Also, it's family-run, so the service is great, very personalized. Finding parking can be a bit challenging, especially in the winter, and under no circumstances, should you park in the lot across the street - cars get ticketed and towed nightly!

Came here way back when they opened and they were just OK. Have been here twice recently and they've been excellent. The black bean soup is fantastic, as is the sangria and fondido. The sweet potato upside down cake is to die for. Definitely recommend trying them (or trying them again if it's been a while)!

Avenida is great! Staff is friendly and food is delicious. The place appeals to all age groups, so those with families are sure to have a good time, as are those just looking for a nice place to dine with a date or friends. My only complaint is that the dishes are a little pricey. I paid around $7 for a flan that I could eat in two bites. Thankfully the other deserts are a little more hefty :)

I got married at Avenida and it was awesome. We have been regular dinner customers here since they opened and it was the perfect place for our wedding with about 30 guests. The guests raved about the food. In particular, the favorite appetizers were the mole spare ribs, the queso fundido, and the ceviche. For entrees, the Flat Iron Steak, Ancho Chili Duck Breast, and Guatemalan Chicken Pepian were hits. Kim also made the wedding cake. She made a delicious & beautiful double layer coconut tres leches cake with buttercream frosting. Cocktails, wine, and champagne were provided as well. Kim & Edgar & their amazing staff took care of everything (for a very reasonable price!) and I cannot thank them enough.
