An article from YALSA's The Hub got picked up by io9 today! Check out io9's coverage, and then click through the read the article on The Hub-- it's a good one.
Young-adult science fiction tackles ethics. We think of young-adult novels as a fun ride, or as a vehicle for exploring alienation. But the American Library Association has a great list of YA titles with thought-provoking ethical questions, from Ender's Game to Sherri L. Smith's Orleans.

I had such a fantastic time at last year's KidLitCon. If you're able to attend this year's conference in New York City, I highly recommend it! And then tell me all about it, because I'll have to live vicariously this year.
Greeting and salutations to you all! I know that some of you have been holding off on registering for KidLitCon 2012, the annual meeting of children's and YA bloggers which is open to anyone (blogger ...

What a great article on bibliotherapy for teens - lots of great book recommendations for the different challenges teens may be struggling with, and I love this: "Fiction has a special magic to it—the ability to weave a world outside reality. To simulate experiences and outcomes. For someone who feels alone, a friend awaits within the pages—someone who says, “Yes, I’ve been there. Have gone through that. Am suffering along with you.”"
A public librarian’s interaction with teens affirms her faith in bibliotherapy, as does her research. Read her story, along with a recommended list of realistic YA fiction. We invite you to suggest more titles.

What a great article. Finding you are not the only one suffering or struggling with something can be life-changing, and doing so inside a good book makes the ride all the more bearable.

Kick Butt Graphic Girls
One of my colleagues is selecting and ordering some graphic novels in her larger selection area of recreation, creative and performing arts. However, she doesn’t really like comics and when she receive them, she floats them to me (knowing I love comics) to ...

Hey Allison - looks like there are a couple of active Communities dedicated to YA stuff (https://plus.google.com/u/0/communities/101308788617126249810https://plus.google.com/u/0/communities/106508788631563560509). You may want to consider posting this there as well.

Good luck!

What's the likelihood of a girl with the name Beatrice in the distant future? How about Amy? Or Katniss? Today on The Hub, I analyze character names in futuristic YA novels.
