"Jill and I arrived in Windhoek, the capital of Namibia, this morning at 5:30 a.m. in time to watch the sunrise over the African expanse. Within 10 minutes of our drive to the hotel Manni, our host, pointed to a male baboon standing on an over pass (I think he was hitch hiking but without an opposable thumb, wasn't having much luck).
After a short rest, we were the guests of honour at a luncheon with the corporate sponsors for our trip, some local media, and some fellow musicians from a South African band called The Professors.
The attached pic is from today's paper. We are already blown away by the landscape, the people and the hospitality. This going to be an awesome trip.
Tomorrow we fly to Gondwana's dunes lodge for sight seeing, a campfire singalong and, when it's time for sleep, we have the option to roll out our bed under the open desert sky. Yup, I'll doing that!
