I have been meaning to do this with those thin scraps, like left over from your accuquilt die cutter, or virtually any other project that involves cutting fabric.  I almost donated the bag of them, but decided they'd probably get tossed,  Having had a family meltdown this afternoon, and the living crap scared out of me by my niece when I was totally asleep, I need a calming, meditative type project to regain my equilibrium.  This is surprisingly easy. The trick is you start out with 2 strips, one somewhat longer than the other, so your joins don't happen in the same place, and tie them together in a knot.  Then you take your working strip in your right hand, and twist it tightly away from you for a couple of inches, after which you fold it backwards over your other strip, which now becomes your working strip.  You keep repeating this process, over, and over, and over, until you get within a couple of inches of the end of one of your strips.  At which point you tuck a new strip inside the old one and keep twisting.  The joins are quite strong, and if you use contrasting fabrics you could have alll sorts of fun.  She shows it well in this video, and also on her web site.  I do believe  I'm addicted.  I can see Jewelry, baskets, and all sorts of things coming from this twine.  I do so hate to throw things away that can be used.  I am NOT a hoarder, I certainly don't keep garbage or junk, I'm just very conscious of the huge garbage Gyres floating about our oceans, and upcycling is always a better choice than recycling or throwing things away.  I will compost cotton fabric scraps before I throw them away!!
