Familiar with the area? At the corner of W. Exchange and Locust Streets, this was the former home of Niam's Restaurant, then Meeker's, and recently, Wally Waffle. United Vaccuum was on the Exchange side, and Laube Photo formerly occupied space there, as well.
Got a minute? We sped up the 4-hour demolition of the Hallinan Building into this 1-minute video. Pretty neat!

Built in 1914, the Hallinan Building was demolished on March 2, 2013, to make way for the new $200 million critical care tower at the downtown campus of Akron Children's Hospital. It is the first of several buildings that will be razed in the next two months.

Even if kids are pretty sure they'll get caught if they lie, they know they'll get caught if they tell the truth. In this segment of 60-Second Positive Parenting, child psychologist Geoffrey Putt, PsyD, director of parenting and family support services at Akron Children's Hospital, recommends that parents make telling the truth more rewarding than lying.

Dr. John Clark used cryoablation to calm the racing heart of a woman pregnant with twins. I love my job!
John Clark, MD, director of the Pediatric Arrhythmia Center at Akron Children's Hospital, discussed a recent radiation-free cryoablation procedure to treat supraventricular tachycardia in a woman who was expecting twins. It was only the fifth time this procedure has ever been performed on a pregnant patient. Originally aired on WEWS on February 28, 2013.

Kids who grow up hearing music, singing songs, and moving to the beat are enjoying what experts call “a rich sensory environment.” That's just a fancy way of saying they're exposed to a wide variety of tastes, smells, textures, colors and sounds. And researchers believe this forges more pathways ...

My 11-year-old son, Aiden, had an outpatient surgical procedure performed at Akron Children’s. I work for the hospital’s foundation as a grant writer, so I had written many times about the wonderful patient care our staff provides, but experiencing it first-hand was truly inspiring.

Be sure to read to your children.
Two-year-old Eliza McKinney of Green learns about zebras and giraffes from Elaine Melvin, a children’s librarian at the Portage Lakes Branch Library, after a visit with the doctor at ACHP Green. This was in conjunction with Read Across America Day, which celebrates the birthday of beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss. More photos and story at

I purchased my 2009 Fit in March of 2012 after contacting this dealership online, and receiving an almost immediate email response. Everyone I interacted with during the purchase was great. My first service was yesterday, an oil change, and everyone I interacted with was very pleasant and accommodating. My car was finished very quickly, and they washed it, too. My car was very near a service milestone, and I was pleasantly surprised to find they had performed that service BEFORE delivery of the car, saving me money. I would highly recommend this dealership.
