One of our favorite Cleveland restaurants. We're never disappointed in the guacamole selection or margaritas! The menu changes from summer to winter, but we have our favorites in both seasons! The patio in the summertime is wonderful and the atmosphere in general is relaxing. A must visit restaurant on your Cleveland restaurant tour!

I was doing a photo walk of Ohio City and this was my first stop. They weren't open yet, but I asked if I could take pictures and the guy inside (John) said sure no problem. He then gave me a tour of the whole place, and told me the whole history of the shop and the other restaurants that they have and even introduced me to the owner. Very nice group. Felt like a family. The place fills up fast, so if you want to go, get there early, like by 4:30. There will be a line around the block. They've opened another restaurant called El Carnicero to accommodate how many guests they get especially for the lunch crowd since ModMex is only open for dinner. 4 stars just because I have not eaten there yet. But the service is superb. Update: Just ate there 12/8/15. The food was phenomenal. I called ahead and I was told they were full but they could probably squeeze me in. We arrived when we said we would and were immediately taken to a table of two. Our waitress was over in no time. Our appetizer of chips and salsa was good, but we didn't like the salsa. The waitress gladly exchanged it for us no problem. My entree was the Porkchop Al Carbon. Cooked at medium, it was absolutely perfect! Drizzled with mole sauce and wrapped in apple skin gave it this unique combination of flavors that felt so familiar yet distinctly new at the same time. Highly recommend, but the restaurant is unfortunately too small for its own good. Get here early enough or make reservations. They will only hold them for 15 minutes though, so don't be late!

Fantastic decor and excellent food. Came here from Michigan just for the machaca and was not disappointed. The sheep's milk Gouda guacamole was great.

There are few mod-mex places out there but Momocho does it right. Great drinks, unique guacamole, and wonderful food.

Fast excellent service and the best actual-dinner-hours happy hour (5:00-6:30) in town with drink specials, starter specials and half price taquitos. The taquitos are plates of hot delicious fillings with soft corn tortillas and salsas on the side. My favorite was the tuna (get it done rare! You'll be happy) and my dude's favorite were the lengua. This is a foodie's dreamboat happy hour dinner.

I have only been here once I thought the staff was helpful we came in on a Saturday it was packed. They told us a 45 min wait but got us a table in 5 mins. I am not sure what staff members other people had but mine were great. Wish i could remember their names. On to the food if you love guacamole then this place should be on your list as a must try or one of your favorite places. I got the trio trout and bacon, crab and corn, Gouda and honey. Ordering this i wasn't sure about the Gouda and honey but that was actually my favorite one then the crab and corn. I don't eat red meat so i am always limited to what i can eat. I had the pecan crusted trout. It was really good i enjoyed it for sure. But that meal should come with some complementary breath mints and mouth wash. Because your breath will be able to peel the paint off the side of a house when your done. If your on a first date DO NOT ORDER THIS. There might not be a second date. lol

I have been to this place several times now, and i have never had a bad experience or dull moments. This place has a great happy hour deals which is not expensive at all. In fact, the food they serve here is worth every penny I had spent. Needless to say, this establishment has everything, good food and top notch customer service. Before I forget, if you managed to visit this place, try their smoked trout crab chilaquiles, I am sure enough that you will definitely love it.

Great food! Great atmosphere! Reminds me of El Carmen Restaurant in Los Angeles. Great presentation too!
