When I'm in a funk, and need a true north to recenter, I look at this...helps me more often that it doesn't. Maybe it might help some of you out there.

This week's #inspiraional  #quote --

"The difference between try and triumph is a little umph."
-Anonymous

This week’s inspirational quote applies to all areas of our lives — work, play, relationships, health.  Whatever we do, we have to give a little umph to be successful at it.  Nothing comes to someone who sits around and waits for it, and not much comes to someone who puts in minimal effort.  The more you put in, the more you get out — plain and simple!  What goal do you have that could use a little more umph??

Happy first birthday to FreelanceStyle — I can hardly believe it’s been a year already!  It’s been a crazy year for me — personally more than professionally.  But through all the ups and downs, I’ve had a great time writing this blog and connecting with new people!  And I’ve learned a few things along the way . . .

If there’s one universal truth today, it’s that we are busy! There’s always way more on the to-do list than there is time to complete the list! We all could use a few more hours in the day. But the sad truth is you can’t make more time. There’s only 24 hours in a day. That’s it. But while you can’t make any more time, but you can free up the time you have.

There’s only two ways to free up more time in your day — you either do less or you do faster. I’m a big believer in doing less. I’ve long ago discovered that I can’t do it all. I’ve accepted that. If it’s not important to me, my business, or my family, I’m not doing it!

For the tasks that are important, I do have a few tips and tricks to get them done faster. These tricks aren’t necessarily related to running my freelance writing business per se, but less time spent doing household tasks frees up my time for work — or fun. And who couldn’t use more fun time?

This week's inspirational quote -- from Ralph Waldo Emerson --

"Every artist was first an amateur."

For everyone who ever questioned whether they were "good enough" -- nobody is born an expert!  The only way to get better at something is to keep working at it!

July's Freelancing Survival Tip --
Don't fill every hour in your schedule - plan for the unexpected!
A typical day for me rarely goes as planned — between the kids, the husband, extended family members, friends, clients, the house, or even the dog, some type of interruption always pops up to throw my day off schedule. Having some extra time in my schedule allows for interruptions without disrupting my daily plan.
