Went to the restaurant on a sunday afternoon expecting something similar to the Rojo of old in Fountain walk. COMPLETELY different experience that in previous years. When we walked in, the place was empty (understandable since its a sunday afternoon) and the hostess acted like we were causing her an inconvenience by telling her we were a group of 6. She asked for a minute, I assume to go put two tables together. Upon returning, she led us to a dirty table with crumbs and wet glass rings on the table from previous customers. She noticed the crumbs and tried to brush them on the floor with her hand. When my wife asked to have the table properly cleaned, she slammed the menus down and brought back a red napkin (used to fold the silverware in) with water on it. No joke. Not even bleach water. Our server was decent and semi-attentive but considering there were zero other customers, i would have expected better. The food was OK but semi-warm at best, as if 6 customers put a strain on the kitchen. My friend ordered fajitas on one of those cast iron wasnt steaming or sizzling. Like i said, its as if it was sitting under the hotlamp while the other 5 dishes were being prepared. The restaurant appears to be an old irish pub thats been redecorated....the dark wood, slate floors, and stained glass all give off a bar like atmosphere...much different the high end feel of the previous Rojo. Wont be going back. There are far better mexican restaurants in Livonia that are worth the drive.

I have been to Rojo a number of times, including at their prior location at the West Oaks Shopping Center, and have never had a bad meal. The hardest part of any visit for me is actually choosing what to eat, though the table-side guacamole is NEVER a bad starter. The staff is always friendly, and though I can't say it's authentic Mexican food, it's delicious to say the least. Try the stuffed jalapenos!

We went on a Friday night. And even thought the place was super busy, they still got our food out pretty quick. Chips and salsa are amazing! Their guacamole is made in front of you and its amazing. Definitely a must try. We got the salmon tacos and portobella tacos. Granted salmon were better but still amazing nonetheless. Definitely my favorite Mexican place so far.

Rojo's runs hot and cold. We've had some really great food and great times there, and other times the food, the service, and the value just weren't there. On average I'd say the place is better than average and I'd recommend it, but with the caveat that if you go there and start to get the feeling that things are going south, you've probably picked the wrong night and should come back at another time.

Waiter was excellent. First time there and tasted several of the tacos. Their unlimited taco menu is a good deal. You need to sit at the bar, although since it was our first time, we were allowed to have it while sitting in a booth. Guacamole was very good (done by hand at table). Guac reminded of my of my trips to Mexico.

Billed as gluten-friendly, the waiter was very unattentive, almost walked away in the middle of the food order. Despite other reviews, the silverware was clean, however the salsa and chips were bland, the hot sauces were all hot and vinegar. The food tasted fine, but was a mix of most basic Mexican foods or odd fusions (scallop taco with swiss chard? What?) Prices way too high - I had three tacos with marianted pork (Pastor Tacos), shell was about 4 inches in diameterwith a side of undercooked rice and bland beans. $9.99. Go somewhere else. Gluten-sensistive folks can order a burfer sans bun anywhere.

When Rojo first opened I checked it out and didn't care for it at all. The food was just not very Mexican to me and the decor was trying to be more then it should have been. I tried them again this fall and the place was about empty and the food had not improved. Today they have about 50 of those stick in the group political type signs littering the corner of Wixom Rd. and Grand River to advertise the place. I don't think this place will be around for much longer and for good reason.

Really high end Mexican food. The Margaritas are great as well as there bar tending staff. The tacos they make are great exotic takes.
