A lovely quote from one of our From Paddock to Plate teachers. We've worked hard to adapt the educational resources to suit the needs of students and it's great to know teachers are loving the Program!

Can't wait to head home to our family farm in northern NSW where the snow is plentiful. This photo was taken in August about five years ago!

Charlie is a biodynamic farmer and grazier, based on his 5000 acre mixed farming property at Boorowa, NSW, where he established tens of thousands of native trees. He is passionate about growing clean healthy beef, which he sells direct to customers under his brand 'Charlie Arnott Natural Grass Fed Beef'. He also supports Landcare Australia's initiative From Farm to Fork #frompaddocktoplate

I had too many oranges that I knew what to do with so popped them in a basket and left them at our front gate 🍊 Half an hour later... ALL GONE! This blog is the first of many exciting chapters in my mission to educate all school students about farmers and food.

This time next week I'll be whipping up this delicious and nutritious homemade granola recipe with the students at Nannup District High School, to emphasise the importance of eating a healthy and wholesome breakfast every morning using local ingredients. Recipe is on the #paddocktoplate app. Here is the link to download the App: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/paddock-to-plate/id1012377466?mt=8 #frompaddocktoplate

Who is growing garlic? Have you ever eaten raw garlic dipped in chocolate? Garlic growers around Australia say that it's "absolutely delicious"! They're not wrong. Not sure as an "after dinner mint" 😝 but give it a try and let me know what you think. Recipe is in my From Paddock to Plate book and on the Paddock to Plate App.

Story
Tagline
Louise FitzRoy is an award-winning journalist, ABC Radio presenter, Director of FitzRoy Media and Founder and Director of From Paddock to Plate and internationally renowned ambassador of local produce and sustainability. Relishing in the success of her first book From Paddock to Plate, she created the first and very popular national From Paddock to Plate Schools Program and the unique From Paddock to Plate App.
Introduction
As an award-winning journalist for ABC Radio, Louise FitzRoy is also a young entrepreneur, founding her two journalism businesses, FitzRoy Media and From Paddock to Plate in 2008.

Louise received Australia’s most prestigious journalism award, the Walkley Award, after co-hosting a breakfast and morning program from a ‘make-shift’ radio studio (ABC Kinglake Ranges) set up in the aftermath of the February 2009 'Black Saturday' bushfires. With the transmitter resting 15 metres high in a local farmer’s cherry picker, this unique community radio station provided a voice to those living in bushfire-affected regions to share their stories of tragedy and trauma, as well as assist in recovery and rebuilding. The Prime Minister at the time (Kevin Rudd) was a guest of the show.

Her coverage of natural disasters didn’t stop there when in 2011, Louise took on a field reporting and presenting role for ABC Radio during the devastating floods in Queensland and Victoria.

Louise is the inspiration behind media business, FitzRoy Media. As a country girl and food-loving journalist, she is also the creator of a From Paddock to Plate brand of educational resources to teach people about where and how their food is produced.

Louise has published her first book From Paddock to Plate - Recipes from Australian Providores and as founder and director of the business, has also released the From Paddock to Plate Schools Program; an educational video series being rolled out in schools nationally. Her From Paddock to Plate App is also live on Apple iTunes and Android.

She is the F.O.O.D. Week Ambassador and an ambassador for Landcare Australia.

Find Louise drawing a crowd at her From Paddock to Plate stage at international food festivals including ‘Truffle Melbourne’ interviewing celebrity chefs Manu Feildel and Philippe Mouchel, as well as 'Gourmet Escape' held in Margaret River, which attracts the likes of Heston Blumenthal, George Calombaris, Neil Perry and Guillaume Brahimi. Whether guest speaking, guest blogging or master of ceremonies; there’s no hiding Louise’s passion for food, farming, journalism, fitness and travel.

Louise has worked as a magazine editor and publisher. Her work features in a range of national and international publications including 'delicious.', 'Australian Women’s Health', 'Scoop', 'Jetstar Magazine' and Malaysian Airlines’ ‘Going Places’. She is also a food stylist and photographer for Equestrian Life.

Louise has travelled across the country as a print, radio, television and online journalist in news, sport and rural fields, even creating her own radio series on ABC Rural called the ‘Cold Esky Challenge’. Whether reporting the news for ABC Local Radio, presenting the state-wide Country Hour programs for ABC Rural or broadcasting from the field into 774 ABC Melbourne, you are bound to hear Louise’s voice on the airwaves.

Louise is an internationally renowned ambassador of local produce and sustainability. When she is not burrowing for truffles in the pouring rain or collecting honey surrounded by a swarm of 5000 bees, you’ll find her teaching yoga to AFL and A-League players.
