Was there in 2009-2012, what more can I add that hasn't already been said, pulling fibre optic cables around it's perimeter for days on end, fantastic work, glorious views and 4 d smell a vision, I'm surprised there's not been a Hollywood blockbuster about it........ Fantastic memories and a special aroma that will live with me until my last breath...

You really can't top it. I know some people go to Europe, Italy, Thailand, Dubai, but they have ZERO clue what they are missing out on. The chocolate dumplings are to die for LITERALLY. When the moon light hits the floaters at just the right angle on a clear night it is almost as if a shooting star was 20 feet away. Totally Magical if you haven't experienced it please check this out before booking any other vacation. Lots of hotels in the area, I reccomend the Bowling Bear by Camp Hicks Dyncorp I believe it is truly amazing what you get for 200 per night, a nice single bed with a sheet, great cabinet for your belongings and only about 200 feet from this magical pond. Enjoy!!! 2010-2013 LATER KAF!!!

A must see in southeast Afghanistan, truly one of the more iconic tourist sites. Not found in ANY of the local guide books, this lovely pond will keep your mind off things as you gaze at this gem. Bring some bread for the birds, a good bathing suit and a beach ball, fun in the Afghan sun all day!

the first time I stayed in my luxury suite here in the ghan, I was taken aback by the sheer magnificence of the pond. it had a certain air of afghan royalty and glistened like a shimmering star in the night sky when the moon was full. many times I would bring my various female acquaintances to the shoreline to set the mood for an evening of magic where I would grill some freshly caught lake trout with a special blend of seasonings harvested nearby. I wish I could have stayed longer, but my time was up and my all expense paid trip to this magical land was over. I have spent many sleepless nights longing to see the shimmering beauty again. it's been 8 long years and many bleak time of desperation wallowing in misery knowing I may never see it again. my patience paid off though and I am once again showered it it's glory. they have made many improvements to this wonderful resort and nearly tripled the amount of people it can accommodate, but one thing still remains just as magical and that is the glorious pond of enlightenment. it's just as beautiful as I remember and I cannot ever see myself returning to life without it. I know one day I will leave and this place torn down, but the pond will live forever because it is a part of all of us, and it must live on through us.

Greatest place for a vacation. I can truly say the people very polite, the food was great! Fresh fish from the pond was always great but a little on the spicy side.
