Too much of it might work against you. That was just my worry, as I wish best your efforts :). Personally I am more towards strategy : someone see g+ post, follow link to article, likes article and than sees on side of page "btw. here is book I wrote" message expressed via book cover. Than IMHO it would be more like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Content_marketing , rather than posts spreading book cover - straightforward advertising. Cheers!
