Well, a live example of just how G works/how it thinks "this is acceptable" is the G+ Local and G+ Brand pages.
Google and Your Business forum wrapup - June 1, 2012
You'll see me pointign out their gaping failure ... and how they replied.

There is no 100% reliable way to consolidate.
Indeed if you use the +1 button for your article it does not count for the Google+ Page and vice versa...(maybe G uses it in some other way) A way to fully consolidate (which has to be done upfront) is to use something like the Badge tool but then all the +1's are pointing to your Google+ Page and not to your article which I guess isn't the optimal way for an user to say please recommend this specific article.... What is nice, is that the +1 of a Google+ Page does appear in your profile, while +1-ing an individual post does not...
To make it a little more confusing... G seems recommend that you use the href attribute for mobile sites to point to the none mobile site...
For example, if your mobile and desktop sites use different URLs, you can specify the canonical URL by adding the href attribute, like this:

I'm more worried about URL Variants and +'s...
in the same manner as Link Value.
The CLE should pass the +'s as well as the Links.
Why they didn't prepare for that occurance in the first place eludes me (though it doesn't surprise me at all).Jun 3, 2012
Update: Twitter counter was consolidated successfully to 143 tweets on each version. StumbleUpon did not and we don't expect it to.

To a certain degree ... I could understand a difference of URLs;
http:// www. example .com / page1
http:// example .com / page1
for things like Twitter/Dig (still thing G has a poor excuse).
But when it comes to Fragments ... that are technically the exact same URL;
http:// www. example .com / page1
http:// www. example .com / page1#this
http:// www. example .com / page1#that
... I see no excuse for anyone!Jun 9, 2012
