I loved the section of the book chapter you look at which discusses Phrase-Based indexing, though you didn't really focus upon those. I have to say, that when I read the chapter before, that's where most of my attention went.

Yes, the article really starts at "EXTRACTING FEATURES FOR RANKING" section of the paper as I felt most would not be interested to read how the search engine actually works.
The entire document was so easy to read and understand through that I recommend that everyone take a closer look at it when possible. For example, I always knew Google had the ability to separate their index into real-time, standard, and stale segments but didn't really think about how they partition their file system so that related terms / documents are actually physically closer and how it all fits together in a distributed computing environment.Apr 24, 2012
