I am heavily favoring moving entirely to video for my lectures. My homeschooled kids benefit from online videos, as well.

Yesterday +Forbes featured an article about the growing popularity of online video for classrooms, including +YouTube EDU.

I feel so outdated. Where is the Web Dev Toolbar? Firebug? Need to get with the times!

I always go back and forth between encouraging newbies to stick to fixed width layouts or to go ahead with flexible layout ideas.

Introduction

Before moving to Ridgecrest in 1999, I graduated from UCSB with a bachelors degree in painting from the College of Creative Studies. I'm an artist by training and there have been exhibitions my paintings and drawings in Canada, India, and the US, the most recent of which was at the Maturango Museum in November of 2000.

However, I also have a serious geeky side which I indulge by building my own PCs and especially by designing websites or playing with database-driven web platforms. I began to freelance in 2006, and I have completed several hand-coded websites as well as a couple of commercial sites on the Joomla! and WordPress content management platforms.

At this moment I have a very limited client list by choice, however, as I'm not only an instructor but I'm an at-home home schooling mom to five, ages 18, 9, 6, 4 and 1.
