Born and raised in the Bronx, Karteezey as child showed an interest in entertainment early; from mimicking and performing audio comedy records, to him and his younger brother performing “Billie Jean” or some other Michael Jackson song at Family Reunions. His passion was solidified when he and his friends decided one night to recreate videos of their favorite Hip-Hop stars, with Karteezey always opting to be behind the camera. Soon realizing he had an eye for visuals, their productions soon expanded past music videos to shorts, commercials, and sketches.
It was while hanging with G-Force on the set of the independent film “A Wonderful Christmas” (where his daughter received a small part) Karteezey was introduced to a sleuth of talented indie writers, directors, producers, and actors that inspired him to get back in the game.
From that point on it has been a steady climb to the top for Karteezey, he has returned to the underground scene with 3afilms! in full swing quickly building his name and presence, first as a cameraman (now Assistant Director) with Video City a well respected Underground Hip-Hop video show airing on public access with a viewership of 1.5 million. Next, branching out and retooling NANtv becoming its director, editor, and co-producer along side AD the General, (one half of the rap group N.A.N.) amassed a following of 2.5 million viewers in 6 months. Then he dropped the video “Not A Joke This Year” by Brooklyn Artist Wordspit, setting new standard for indie videos forcing independent directors to step up their game, skill and creativity. While on his way to becoming a great director, Karteezey is also a screenwriter, editor, a producer, and is working to improve his skills as a special effects artist.
There aren’t many who can play more than one position in any arena, to find someone like Karteezey in this field is truly a gift, and proof of that is in the work he has produced, the skills he possesses, and the love he has for his art. It’s clear to see Karteezey is on the rise and looks far from stopping!
