I was asked earlier today why I liked Google+ as much as I do. My only reply so far is that the conversations are better than anywhere else. The problem right now is that the people who instigated those conversations in the beginning aren't showing up in my stream any more. Presumably as I've added more people to my circles, those new folks share more often and push people down. While they are also sharing interesting things, it's starting to have a Facebook-like quality of links to uninteresting items or self-promotion without giving reason for learning more beyond the "I'm Awesome!"-style post.
The nice part is that I have total control and can remove those people quickly from my circles (and I will be at least until the fascinating people start appearing again). The bad part: the fascinating people may be sharing they're most interesting posts with their circles of which I am not a member. That's sort of the point, right? It would be sad, though, if the awesome discussions that took place publicly in the first days of Google+ have been withdrawn behind the veil of a Circle.
I'll find out with some certainty soon as I reduce my Circles a bit, but I hope that the items I found fascinating are waiting for me.
