Those who say that the Metrodome doesn't need to be replaced, clearly have never been to Vikings game. Concourse that were on average of 15 ft across (not including the crunch from the concession stand), long lines at the bathroom and overall cramped conditions, are reasons why it needed to be replaced. I will however reflect positively on it. It may have been " a dump", but it was OUR "dump". Two world series, all star game, a Superbowl, two Final four, and the largest single season basketball attendance ever, are some of the reasons to love it. It holds lots of memories and its destruction does bring a tear to my eye, but the future is very bright. I for one loved it, and will miss it despite its flaws. Goodbye old friend.

Had an awesome time watching the Vikings play the Lions last Sunday! There really isn't a bad seat in the Metrodome and I'm going to be sad to see the vikings leave this place. Hopefully the new stadium will live up to the hype.

I have such fond memories of going to the Metrodome with my now deceased father to Golden Gopher football games when I was a child still young enough to still sit on my dad's shoulder, listening to the U of M marching band at halftime (the entire band, especially the drums, sounded amazing in the dome), watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings play there, and seeing MonsterJam trucks demolish buses and RVs on the dirt covered field with my closest school friends. Having an indoor stadium in Minnesota made perfect sense, sheltered us from the unbearable cold, and made for a pleasant entertainment venue. I'll never forget the iconic blue seats, the male urinal troughs, getting "Field Fare" Hormel hot dogs and nachos with Jalapeños, and being blown out of the stadium with a rush of forceful air at the end of every game. To those who are happy the Metrodome is now gone, I pity your lack of nostalgia and appreciation of our Minnesotan history. Consolidating three teams under one roof made so much sense compared to building Target Field and TCF Bank Stadium (both venues which decided to go cheap, use bleachers instead of chairs, and make outdoor stadiums exposed to our harsh and sporadic Minnesota weather). The Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome will be missed. I proudly display my piece of the iconic white dome in my office and will pass it down to my children some day.

I don't see what's wrong with the place. They sell it out for every game, so I don't see what spending $1B on a new ugly stadium is supposed to achieve. Renovation would have been a much more fiscally responsible move.
