I didn't mention this yesterday...

But Code Name: Hunter has reached 15 issues on the main storyline!

Issue 15's cover appeared yesterday on the front page of the Supporters area.

That means Issue 14 has gone off to print and is available as a CBR in our store.

Anyone recoginize the agent on the cover? It's been over 50 years since anyone's seen him last.

Cover construction IX. Damn, it's done! It's finally done! *laughs maniacally* Seriously, I got about four hours of sleep last night and I've been working on the cover since this morning. ...

So, I mentioned Issue 14 was done?

Darc has a tradition of posting the thumbs of an issue once they're complete, so I'm gonna link that here.

These issues are a lot of work! Enjoy!

Thursday!

Thursdays are inking days. Which usually means Darc works long long hours and not much in the way of a break.

I don't have much in the way of images to share for this sort of thing. It kinda goes from sketch to ink to tone with very little interim.

However, some stuff I can share. Remember the last post? The one with the rough sketch of Issue 14, page 24?

Well, for the viewers at home, Darc has been taking the Kubert School correspondance course on Anatomy and Perspective. This in of itself isn't anything amazing, as the course itself is rather basic, but it has got her doing a lot of extra "homework" on her own.

Specifically, she's been reading Andrew Loomis' "Drawing the Head and Hands", and taking some lessons from that. Already it's subtly altering the way she works, allowing her to create a much more regular head shape on her characters.

Apparently (And once she's done I'll be looking through the book myself), the method Loomis teaches for head construction allows her to be accurate and fast. It's technically slower than the old method, but there's almost no adjustment to the head after the fact. One and done.

As an engineer, I can appreciate one-and-done approaches.

We've just ordered the second book, (Well, technically the first book) Figure Drawing for All It's Worth. Fortunately, Titan Books have seen fit to re-issue these books, which were a great reference for illustrators while they were in print. In theory, Titan will be printing the rest of Loomis' books, which means they'll definitely be ending up in our library when they come out.

And now, a link!

Another Monday's update on a Wednesday! This time for the Supporters area!

Max is in trouble (what else is new). The RCSI agents in Fey aren't taking him at his word, and there's going to be a test.

Untrusting sort, aren't they?

Well, Specter is at least, but he's got his reasons.

The Supporters area runs at twice the update speed of the main site, and is currently 87 pages (20 months!) ahead!
Working for the government is hard enough. But when strange creatures start running amok after a bombing raid things become even more complicated. The old magic is back, and it's not leaving without a...

I've been really bad about keeping this up to date. I could blame a lot of things. Holidays, family visits. But it was all me getting out of the habit.

Well, 2 things to start.

The Comic news. Code Name: Hunter is going semi-weekly.

Comic pages will now appear on Mondays and Fridays starting January 2nd.

Secondly!

Darc is now open for commissions! Check out her commission page at: http://between-the-panels.blogspot.com/p/commissions.html

Oh and yes. Thirdly.

I've been bad about keeping G+ up to date this week. I'll be better once the workload drops a little bit.

Anyway, normally today Friday I'd be talking about the start of Issue 15 on the Supporters site, but instead I've got a small announcement.

Starting today, and until December 9th, Code Name: Hunter will be taking a short break. There's three good reasons for it.

First: Darcy's been sick with the voiceless death plague of silenceness and has been combating it with copious amounts of BlueGoo, a NyQuil like substance.

This has a side effect of moving her battlefield from the art desk to dreamland. Which is good, since the old Irish saying that the best cure (for everything) is a dram (of whiskey) and a good night (sleep).

Second: Next week is Thanksgiving in the USA, which means a lot of distractions and an inevitable food coma for us.

Third: The week after Turkeyday, Darc and I will be doing the Family thing, which is scheduled through the weekend.

During this time, we'll be working, trying to get ahead again, Darc will be cranking on her coursework, and we'll both be trying to build up all the other stuff that makes Hunter happen.

Code Name: Hunter will return on Friday, December 9th, with Page 1 of Issue 15

Monday! And with Mondays, comes updates!

Max remembers back to more innocent times, back a few years ago, when he thought Fairy Tales were just stories that the housekeeper used to tell him to make him behave.

Also, he comments on the relative mental stability of people who jump through fey gates. Foreshadowing is strong in this one!

FRIDAY!

Which means the Supporters have updated over at http://supporters.codenamehunter.com/

Max is still on his butt, but at least he's passed Jinx's test.

Specter's still grumpy, probably because he was hoping that Max would fail and give him an excuse to chop him to ribbons. Guy is holding a grudge from the bump on the head.

This marks the END OF ISSUE 14! Snoopy dance

Monday's update will be the cover of Issue 15, and sometime this weekend, we'll be sending Issue 14 out to the printer.

I'm excited, I love getting issues out in print.

From the Sketchbook!

Darcy posts teasers and notes from her work on the comic.

Today she's putting the finishing bits on Issue 14. (Yes, Issue 14. I did mention that the Supporters were 87 pages ahead)

Course, this means that soon Issue 14 will be at press.
The last few pages are always the hardest. Well, aside from the first few, of course. For some reason starting and ending an issue is a little difficult. I keep worrying that the pages won't turn ...

Monday's update! On a Wednesday!

Okay, so I neglected to post about Monday's update on Monday, mostly because I was working on this new page.

Anyway...

Code Name: Hunter now has it's own G+ page, and updates and news will be there!

This week on the main side:

Ruby continues the story of Jacob Roderick's disappearance. There's flashbacks and fey gates, and a yank who isn't afraid of faeries (she's watched too much Disney as a kid)
