Founded in 2012, Crux Fermentation Project is located at the epicenter of Bend and at the crucial core of the brewing process. We’ve designed our 11,000-hectolitre brewery to allow for non-traditional brewing methods like decoction mashing, open fermentation, oak barrel aging, wild yeast strains and experimental hops. All our beer is bottled and labeled by hand in small batches right at the brewery. Brewmaster Larry Sidor is always in pursuit of the next great beer, whether by reinterpreting a classic style or abandoning it altogether.

Tasty food and beer in such a cool atmosphere surrounded by the brewing equipment. All of our food choices offered a wonderful array of flavors that satisfied out big group. Avoid the heat of the day as its an open air restaurant that could use a little ventilation!

Great beers. Probably the most exciting brewery in Bend. We had their flight and loved the IPAs. Half-hitch IPA is a must try!! Very friendly staff. Definitely recommend!

Beautiful place, clean, excellent service. Unfortunately, product wasn't good. I'm a hop head, and the beer wasn't to my liking. :(

So good. Busy but worth it. (The bathroom line sucks!)

Atmosphere, stellar style, gourmet menu or casual tacos outside on the patio, a large lawn for kids dogs and grown ups to "frolic" on nice days.. what more could you ask for? Oh not to mention they have great tasting beer! haha.... Uniquely named orginals like [Banished] Freakcake and Dark Strong Cherry Bomb... or try the Double Cross or Outcast for somethign lighter. From the lawn you can see the mountains on a clear day. I love the big pretzels and/or the jalepeno dip with pita bread. This is one of my favorite places in Bend... I take family and friends here every time they visit. It makes me proud to be a Bendite.

I have not have an overall good experience here in the 3 or 4 visits I've made here. Today's was the worst and I won't be back. Crux has various places to sit and enjoy the beer, indoors and out. One of the choices is the benches along the outside wall which capitalize on the views (gorgeous) and the sun-warmed wall (wonderful in the cooler months.) If you choose to sit here rather than a table inside or tables in the tented area outside, you need to get your own drinks if you don't want to wait quite a while. This should be fine, but it is always a pain. You stand at the bar, hoping to be noticed, and then are allowed to place your order. The bar servers are busy, but I have been many places where the bar is busy and have gotten good service. I have not yet gotten good (friendly) service at Crux in this situation. I must say, I have gotten good service when seated inside. Today I ordered, the bar server (a consistently surly employee in my experience) rinsed the glasses and left 2-3 tablespoons of water in my wine glass, then poured the wine. When I pointed out the glass had water in it and I would like to have him pour another, water-free glass of wine for me it pissed him off. He was rude and didn't apologize for not noticing there was still water in the glass. He did pour me another glass of wine without rinsing the glass. I bought the wine and one beer and it cost $14, which is on the high side, even for craft beer, even in Bend. I definitely won't be back. There are too many great places to enjoy in this town.

Crux is a very cool brewery in a town full of cool breweries. It is a little off the beaten path but still only a 10 minute walk from downtown. The space has a great feel with tall wooden tables and brewing equipment all around. Their beer list is impressive and long and everything I tried there was excellent. They also have a food menu. I had a chicken sandwich which was good, standard pub food. There is outdoor seating and a lawn area with corn hole, so this is a great spot to spend an afternoon drinking and playing games. Definitely recommend for the beer loving crowd.
