As reported last week, activity in Ammonium Nitrate markets has remained quiet. However, if it was hoped that this is seen as the end of the increases in A.N prices, then the news from France will not be welcomed.

-Yara increased A.N prices by €10/t at the back end of last week. The last increase in France was €23/t at the end of August, this was swiftly followed in the UK by a step up of £ 20/t. If this pattern continues then €10 would mean £ 9/t here in the U.K. Last week we reported that CF had withdrawn prices on their remaining range of NPK compound prices, as yet they have not returned to the market.

Epcor unveiled a new facility Wednesday that removes phosphorous and nitrogen from wastewater and turns it into "pearls" of fertilizer to be spread on farmers' fields.
-The facility, which Epcor describes as "Canada's largest wastewater nutrient recovery facility," was built in partnership with Ostara Nutrient Recovery Technologies.
-Sewage from the city flows into the Gold Bar wastewater treatment plant, and after an initial round of treatment is piped to Clover Bar, said Simon Thomas, plant director.
-The new $18-million plant, located at Clover Bar, then takes in the remaining water and recovers phosphorus and nitrogen from it, turning it into pellets of slow-release fertilizer, Thomas said.

How does a multinational like Yara, which is now heavily invested in India, look at the situation on the ground
-Very strategically and very differently from how an Indian fertilizer company will look at it
-The approach is strategic and the outlook is long term
-And urea is not where the company is concentrating on

The website highlights the importance of Nuclear and Isotopic Techniques which can help develop climate-smart processes and methodologies in the agricultural sector.
-Isotopic techniques, using carbon-13, oxygen-18 and nitrogen-15 signatures, are used to assess soil carbon sequestration and trace water and nutrient sources and pathways. In this way, isotopic techniques can contribute to more efficient water and fertilizer use.
-Studies show that the impacts of climate change are expected to worsen farming conditions, especially in developing countries that will need to produce more from limited land resources while using less efficient technologies
