We always loved this place and made it a point to take guests here, but we were blown away with rudeness when the bald door guy made it very clear that he no longer wanted our business. After being so forward as to ask who was playing in the other space, we were struck with a never ending tirade of nasty comments! "I'm too busy for this... DONT talk to me... Can't you see I'm working, here..." this went on and on when there were two door men and no guests waiting whatsoever. I was sober for the whole night and had to inquire others nearby... "Is this man being serious, we can't tell, it must be a joke that he is still going on and on with completely inappropriate and downright rude comments!" Folks nearby were equally bewildered as he spewed, completely out of line, at an otherwise very calm, cool event. There are plenty of vegg/vegan friendly places nearby, and at far better prices and service. It's just a shame I'll have to find a different venue for poetry and such! DEFINITELY not going back after that insane performance! It's a real shame because the Mercury Cafe used to be such a special spot!

The Mercury Cafe ('Merc') food, wine and draft beer experience is all organic, sustainable and delicious. The Ballroom upstairs is the best dance hall in town. The 'Jungle Room' supports the talented Denver Poetry Community and speakers for environmental and social justice. All colors creeds sexual preferences very welcome. An extraordinary place.

Was not impressed with the food or the service. It was organic, but I felt it was overpriced. We went with a large group and most of the people in the group did not like their food or finish what they ordered. So glad to see more organic and gluten free options, but just wouldn't recommend this one. Also- they don't accept credit cards...

I don't go out to eat in general.. food is ok actually. Service is so/so; but generally I get lousy service wherever i go in Denver though.. whereas i tend to get excellent service in the east coast where im from.

Service was good. Our waitress was attentive and pleasant. Food was mediocre at best considering the high prices. The whole place was kinda dingy, chairs were cheap, beat to heck and uncomfortable. Credit cards were not accepted which is silly in 2015 since I have been to garage sales which accepted credit cards. Don't think I would go back.

Amazing place for live music and dancing, but the food was mediocre. There was an awesome quirkiness to the place that really added to the effect.

Mercury Cafe is awesome! Loved the fresh food. The menu is very detailed and there is something for everyone! Locally sourced when possible. Met by a lady with a huge smile and made us feel welcome. Server was very helpful and friendly and was fantastic. We will be back!
