I stayed 3 nights, and was very happy with my experience. Check in was quick and easy, The room was clean and very quiet. The hotel is across the street from Minute Maid Park so I went to an Astro's game one night. Also across the street from Vic and Anthony's Steak House, one of the best in Houston. It is about a 5 minute walk to the George Brown convention center (where my meetings were held). Elevators (my pet peeve) are fast and one is always waiting at lobby level. The service in the lobby bar is friendly and fast. I can't think of a complaint. Maybe the room/bathroom were on the small side....but I have stayed in much smaller. It is a great downtown hotel!

Though the proximity to downtown Houston, the rooms, and the lobby is nice, this hotel has some major downsides. No parking is made available, and the valet needs a 15 minute heads up to pull around. With the overnight parking charges and the tipping, I probably spend 60-75 in 2 days. The thing that made me decide I will not stay at this hotel again was the fact that my personal credit card, which I was told would only be used for incidentals, was charged, in spite of me making the reservation with my corporate travel card. I received no folio or preference indicator about this--the charge went through on the wrong card before I even checked out. When I called to resolve this, the Accounting representative did not seem like she cared at all. Instead of reversing the charge over the phone, she asked me to fill out an extensive form and scan it back so the charge could be reversed within 2 weeks. What a terrible customer service experience that I have not encountered at any other SPG hotel.

Terrible review here. My rating is below 1 star. The room actually made me so sick my face swelled up. The employees were fine but the maintenance was a bit weak and the management makes certain that you pay for everything, you would normally expect gratis in a nice hotel. All in all, I will never again stay at a Westin. Ever.

The weekend of August 9, 2014, the Westin Houston Downtown had overbooked by two rooms. They even had the nerve to send Starwood Platinum members who had reservations "walking" on their wedding weekend. I do not recommend staying at this hotel because they may not honor your reservation, as their booking system needs to be fixed. Also, the people at the front desk will try to say it's your fault, even when you have a booking confirmation number and they admit that they overbooked! Those in charge of reservations at this hotel lacked the professionalism I've experienced at other Starwood Hotels.

bewear. Management is horrible. I booked a reservation. When I showed up they only had haft of my reservation. Therefore half of the people I was with didn't have a place to sleep. Then someone with me tripped on a food tray so the hotel charged me $200 for damages as long with $303 for the room that I booked and didn't even stay at. We had to leave and go stay somewhere else. I'm throwing my platinum members card away.

The Customer service at this Hotel is simply nonexistent. While the property is nice to look at, the thing that really counts is the customer service and the ability to help a customer. In this case the hotel refused to bend a rule to allow two mature, almost 21 year olds who were in town on business and refused to let them check in. Basically they tossed two vulnerable young women into a very dangerous position. Due to this I cannot in good faith recommend this hotel or this brand to anyone. What really galls me is that if they were part of a group they could stay there but as they were in town to shoot a movie as part of a business they literally didn't care if they slept on the street, They should be ashamed of themselves.

I've never actually stayed at this hotel, but their lobby restaurant is a place I frequent. The first time I went it was cold outside and I realized it was definitely gumbo weather. Lucky for me it was on the menu so I decided to give it a whirl. It is OMG delicious. They even give you a tiny bottle of Tabasco sauce. That alone was cute, but the soup is perfection. It has chicken, beef, sausage, shrimp okra and all kinds of deliciousness in it. It's by far the best gumbo I've had in Houston. You can get a cup or a bowl, but trust me, you will want a BOWL.

POORLY MANAGED.... The managers here are completely incompetent with absolutely no skill or customer service WHATSOEVER...take it from the way they treat their prospective employees AND their employees. If you want to enjoy your stay with NO INTERRUPTIONS stay away from these people, they DON'T CARE.

The Westin Houston Downtown hasn't shared anything with you.
