Wick on The Madness of King George -    Overall Perfect - Really Great Acting - Perfect Film - Risqué - Glib Fascinating history lessons are rarely tremendously entertaining, yet The Madness of King George is both. Frequently funny, often charming, it's nevertheless chockablock with important historical insights about the British government, crown and class system, and the ignorant barbarity of pre-modern medical care. This mostly true story of the 1788 "Regenc... http://ow.ly/2Xi5uB

Wick on Johnny Dangerously -    Overall OK - Good Acting - OK Film - Risqué - Surreal Michael Keaton and a WTF cast couldn't rescue Amy Heckerling's mob parody Johnny Dangerously. About that cast, guys like Dick Butkus, Alan Hale Jr. and Ray Walson pop up in like three scenes each. What The Fuck? Unfortunately the bad screenplay falls flat, with nary a joke that works. Johnny Dangerously barely survived such a near fatal wound. The tone of the comedy is enc... http://ow.ly/2WHJ4k

Wick on Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country -    Overall Good - Great Acting - Good Film - Risqué - Supernatural Star Trek VI concluded the original movie series in disappointing fashion. Last of Nicholas Meyer's II, IV, VI trio, last with the founding cast, ST VI is first in being ridiculous. That's saying something for Star Trek. Shatner and Crew ensure it's not without its charms, however. They're matched by a first-rate villain. The great Christopher... http://ow.ly/2Wx7od

Wick on Run All Night -    Overall Great - Great Acting - Great Film - Sordid - Supernatural Run see Run All Night if Liam Neeson bonding, then brawling with Ed Harris sounds like your cup of tea. It sounded like mine and it was. The two legendary actors certainly don't disappoint in their manly duet. Formulaic in the extreme, RAN still has lots to like, starting with a great cast that also features Vincent D'Onofrio & Génesis Rodríguez. He's nails as an NYPD Homici... http://ow.ly/2WacRo

Wick on Focus -    Overall Good - Good Acting - Good Film - Risqué - Glib Focus is a decent date movie, especially for fans of con-artist movies and/or Will Smith (and who's not). More credit eludes it due to tortured plotting, unbelievable happenings and lack of romantic chemistry. As to that last, I blame Margot Robbie, the gorgeous actress previously seen as DiCaprio's trophy wife in "The Wolf of Wall Street":http://www.viewguide.com/movie_reviews/3954-the-w... http://ow.ly/2VTtv0

Wick on Kingsman: The Secret Service -    Overall Great - Very Good Acting - Great Film - Sordid - Surreal The same brilliant, depraved and amoral crew who brought us Kick-Ass have now delivered Kingsman: The Secret Service, another comic take on a well-trod movie topic. James Bond movies are the inspiration this time. The result is tremendously entertaining, albeit as sordid as it is sleek. And it is very sleek indeed. Kingsmen are a snooty spy service literally he... http://ow.ly/2VCmNI

Wick on Hondo -    Overall Good - Very Good Acting - Good Film - Risqué - Glib John Wayne starring in an Old West fairytale based on a Louis L'Amour story endows Hondo with loads of old fashioned panache, yet saddles it with too many cliches for enduring greatness. That's in 2D however. It was better in 3D, albeit still not great. It is a well crafted story, centering on a classic L'Amour ranch romance, with three men involved with an attractive young mother an... http://ow.ly/2Vik4A
