And thus fell the last of the old school, Rajnath – will more stalwarts start traveling the Shatru-Jaswant route? With chosen orifices in charge the end is in sight.
Excerpt: one official went to the extent of saying: "Rajnath Singh is the official second-in-command in the government, but only on paper." . . Rajnath was perhaps the lone member in the Narendra Modi-Amit Shah dispensation taking a nuanced, if not divergent, stand on multiple issues . . had pushed for the extension of the unilateral ceasefire in Kashmir but the Prime Minister decided to end it on Sunday following opposition from Doval and army chief Bipin Rawat. Sharma too was keen on a ceasefire extension.

Friends,
When we have a normal child and he gets good grades, we are happy. When he does what we ask him to do, we are happy. These are the normal joys of parenthood.
However, if our child has some limitations, that make the process of learning somewhat longer or different from that of other children, our happiness at every small step taken by him becomes a very special joy.
Please reflect on an important issue for me: currently special education week is being observed in many parts of the world as the period of inclusiveness and appreciation for children with autism, dyslexia, ADHD (Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder). We need to extend our support for all these children who fight to succeed every day, along with those who seek to help them.
It would be nice to teach our children to be nice to all classmates and to accept those who are different. Children with special needs are not weird. They want what everybody wants: to be accepted!

Do spread this message (cut and paste) in honour of all children that are unique and different.
Thanks.

75% of the states cowtow to Modi-Shah, yet they can’t collect stats, shameful. 2.6 million dry toilets and 13,400 manual scavengers? What mechanical heaven, or perpetual stench, do bhakts live in?
Excerpt: While the numbers are an improvement from before, when a majority of states denied the existence of the practice, it is still a gross underestimate as it includes data from only 121 of the more than 600 districts in the country.
More importantly, it does not include those involved in cleaning sewers and septic tanks, and data from the Railways, which is the largest employer of manual scavengers. Of the 53,000 identified so far through the national survey, only a total of 6,650 have been confirmed officially by states in keeping with the tendency to under-report the prevalence of this practice.

Clarion call to Muslims: wholeheartedly embrace all neighbours and join the growing mainstream of opposition now, or you risk being marginalised.
Excerpt: the repressed have to be in the forefront of the demand for equal treatment, even if they have allies from privileged communities . . the new generation of Muslim leadership has to make an extraordinary effort to reach out to other groups who are also suffering . . call out and correct its own deep internal failures of caste-ism and misogyny. At a time of great danger, it has to expose itself to greater risks, or that danger will only grow . . Citizenship is both a right and a responsibility

Big Boss Modi exerts his authority by arresting activists Dhawale, Gadling, Raut, Rona and Sen and Bhima Koregaon sympathisers – just for helping Dalits, Bahujans, Adivasis and alleged Naxals protect their rights.

Excerpts:
(1 - Sudhir Dhawale) Born to a Dalit family in the slums of Indora, an Ambedkarite hub in Nagpur, 54-year-old Sudhir Dhawale floated an ambitious plan . . Elgar Parishad, a large-scale event with over 200 organisations participating . . only Dalits and Bahujans would occupy the centre stage. He wanted to show the Bahujan strength to the state. He succeeded in it.” It was the success of the event, Sathidar feels, that led to his arrest . .
(2 - Surendra Gadling) Born in a same neighbourhood as Dhawale . . Gadling . . along with his friends . . started . . Awhan Natya Manch. This group would organise cultural evenings in the bastis of Nagpur and engage in conversations around rights and oppressions . . Gadling became a formidable force and a point person for cases of illegal killings, police excesses . . an expert in special laws like UAPA, the Forest Rights Act, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act . . the case of G.N. Saibaba, a wheelchair-bound Delhi University professor jailed for alleged Naxal links. He handled most of these cases pro bono . .
(3 - Mahesh Raut) Born in Lakhapur village in Chandrapur district of Maharashtra’s Vidarbha . . Raut has led and organised several protests . . “followed the constitutional path and ensured he chose only legal options” . . a central convener and committee member of the Visthapan Virodhi Jan Vikas Andolan (VVJVA) . . campaigned . . to sell Tendu leaves directly into the market without the involvement of the middlemen . . constant confrontations with the police and state administration led to several cases being filed against him. “But this one is shocking.” . . past six months, Raut has been undergoing treatment for acute ‘ulcerative colitis’, a condition that causes the colon to enlarge. “He lost over seven kilos in a matter of a month. He was mostly home bound and was undergoing intensive treatment,” . .
(4 - Rona Wilson) a 47-year-old activist from Kolam district in Kerala, had made Delhi his second home since the late ’90s . . recalls S.A.R. Geelani “Rona was at the forefront of demanding my release. When I was released, he insisted we formed a group to help other such political prisoners who were incarcerated like me . .” Geelani adds. CRPP has been operating across every state and is closely looking into cases of those booked for agitating and questioning the state. Jagmohan Singh, the nephew of Bhagat Singh is also a part of the core committee of the organisation . .
(5 – Shoma Sen) “in 2007, with my father Tusharkant Bhattacharya’s arrest, things changed,” Koel says. Since then, both her parents . . mostly focused on their teaching and translation work, Koel tells The Wire . . says her mother . . slowed down over the years. “Over the past few years, she had been leading almost a bourgeois life . . looking forward to a peaceful, comfortable life post retirement,” she says . . had no connection with the Bhima Koregaon event. “My parents are in solidarity with the movement. But that is all,”

From the man who brushed off all election pledges as ‘jumlas’ – that would be a compliment.
Excerpt: “In the coming days, the Congress will spread different types of lies to mislead people . .” Shah, who was addressing the gathering in PG College grounds, said.

Since Mamata has nothing to hide, she has to ensure expeditious delivery of justice in all such cases to shut unjustified tail wagging by the great unwashed – especially if TMC aspires to receive due weightage for her 40+ seats in opposition formulations.
