Some times your kids can do the worst things in public but later on on you can laugh about it. You got to love them!
Last week I got the biggest kick out of Domain of the Mad Monny's blog post and it inspired me to write a little story about my own two kids when they were young and ornery. The public embarrassment always seem to stick in yo...

Check out what my sister has been working on with the city of Altoona. I am so excited to see something like this going on in our small communities. Hopefully we can see a lot more of this going on in our cities.
For the past two years I have been facilitating a community health initiative with one of our goals opening a community garden this Spring. So for the past several months I have been immersed in developing a community garden ...

Nothing is better than growing your own fruit. Pineapple that is bought through the store can have such a acidic taste to it. When you grow your own they are so sweet. Here is some simple steps on how to plant and cut a pineapple.

My family has been visiting for the last two months because the weather in the Midwest  has been horrid. A long with this on set of snow birds to my house is also the home-style, comfort and classic way of cooking. Butter, sour cream, cream cheese, cheese of any sort  are  all staples of  the diet.I added up all the butter used and it was about 5 pounds in a 10 day period.  Quite frankly I should wright a book "how to gain weight in 30 days".
Well here is a start with this over the top bundt cake, It's so good.

Chocolate Swirl Bundt Cake
1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
1/3 cup sour cream
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
3 eggs
2 3/4 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup chocolate syrup
1/4 teaspoon baking soda

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Greases and flour a bundt pan
Combine dry ingredients in a separate bowl.
Cream together butter, sugar, sour cream and vanilla until light and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time beating well after each until thoroughly incorporated.
Add buttermilk to creamed mixture alternating with dry ingredients.
In a measuring cup combine syrup and 1/4 teaspoon baking soda.
Measure 2 cups of cake batter into a medium size bowl and stir in the syrup mixture until thoroughly incorporated.
Pour vanilla batter into cake pan and top with chocolate batter. Do not swirl.
Bake for 60-70 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
Cool on rack and remove from pan.

Glaze with vanilla and chocolate Ganache. See my post for Gourmet Brownies (which are decadent) for a Ganache recipe - for white chocolate ganache just substitute white chocolate chips.
