In the summer our Mom would kick us out of the house and this is what we would do all day long until we heard a whistle to come home. Thanks to my sister, +Terri Henkels for passing on some great memories and experience to our younger generations.

Maybe it's the summer heat, but I have been enjoying making retro cocktails. Some come out so so , but I did rock this one though and I think you will really enjoy it.

Drunken Berries
1 oz. - Bullet Rye
2 oz. - 7 up
1 tsp. - Simple Syrup (a splash)
1/2 tsp. - Lemon (light squeeze)
1/4 cup - Mixed Berries
I bought a bag of frozen berries and it made it a lot easier. Place thawed berries in glass, pour simple syrup and lemon juice over and muddle. Add bullet rye, 7 up and ice. Stir and serve.

Love Cheeseburgers? You will love this soup!
Had a wonderful trip to Iowa last fall. While the family and I were shopping in Pella we stopped and had lunch. On the menu was a Cheeseburger Soup. Wow was it good. Thinking about how I could make it at home for my family I ...

These cheesy filled biscuit are wrapped with a Parmesan and butter batter. If that is not enough when you bite into the biscuit the warm cheddar oozes out and is so yummy.

I love getting together with family and friends sharing good eats and drinks. Check out this  onion ring pumped up on bacon that my sister made! There is all kinds of things you can do with this.
Bacon Wrapped Onion Rings
2 very large onions
2 pounds of bacon
Lowery Seasoning Salt
Direction
Slice onions to desired thickness. Note: Thicker slices hold up better during the cooking process and make sure your slice is straight because crooked slicing results in broken rings.
Remove small inner circles of onion. Spiral wrap the bacon around 2-3 rings from the outer circle of the slice. The larger slices took about 1 1/2 slices of bacon.  Use toothpicks to hold bacon on onion ring.
Grill or smoke on medium low until desired crispiness. We smoked ours for about an hour until the bacon was quite crispy. On a grill it will probably take less time. I was going to serve a ranch dipping sauce to go with them but as I said above, they never made it to the buffet table.
This makes approximately 24 onion rings
