We're to have achieved the twin accolade of being shortlisted in two categories at the Festival Supplier Awards 2018!

We're a finalist for both the Best Toilets/Waste Management Award and the Best Supplier Award, with the winners being announced at a sparkling gala dinner on 25 January at the Hurlingham Club in London.

Our Special Events team works extremely hard to deliver excellence and innovation, and help event organisers to achieve their own waste and environmental goals, so to be recognised by our peers is very rewarding.

Youngsters at Cropredy Primary School in Oxfordshire have been learning first-hand about where their food comes from, thanks to the creation of an innovative school and community farm.

In a boost to the project, Grundon Waste Management, which operates from nearby Banbury, recently donated £4,000 from the Landfill Communities Fund, to pay for the construction of polytunnels on the site and buy new tools. The school applied for the grant through environmental charity Trust for Oxfordshire’s Environment (TOE2).

When it comes to correct disposal of redundant laboratory chemicals, it's essential to ensure compliance with strict legislation.

Sometimes that can be easier said than done, especially if labels have worn off, or chemicals have been decanted into other containers.

Paul McConaghy, from Grundon's specialist Chem-Pack service, says the first critical step is identification.

Boys from the 1st Slough Boys Brigade Junior Section have been finding out what happens to their rubbish, and why recycling is important to both their community - but also to the global safety of planet Earth.

As well as listening carefully to the speakers from both Grundon and Lakeside EFW – and asking insightful questions - the boys also played some games, where they sorted different types of rubbish into piles that could – and couldn’t – be recycled.
