Interesting article despite the clickbait title. Say what you will about Trump (I actually like a few things he's done), but this is far bigger than one person, and he's riding the wave.

Scary stuff indeed. It's definitely something that I've admittedly taken for granted.

Stupid carriers. When will they (and ISPs) understand that they are just big dumb pipes? The availability, bandwidth, power usage, and cost is all that should matter to them. Does anybody ever buy a Verizon phone because the OS is "certified" by Verizon? Likewise, has a pre-bundled app ever positively influenced a purchase? Carriers, much like RIAA, are desperately hanging on to a dying model. Ages ago you didn't own your land line telephone; you rented it with phone service from the phone company. You couldn't directly hook up a modem to their network either. Hence the goofy acoustic couplers. The carriers need to get with the times and accept that they're a utility, not content providers or device manufacturers. Ditto ISPs.

Yet another pet peeve: companies that put the customer experience behind their own laziness. I would seriously switch rental car companies over this. There is no reason for 2 identical keys, 2 electronic fobs, and a giant plastic key fob to be permanently fastened to the same ring. They even have the gall to state that the key replacement cost is $225. Whoops, now make that $450. The only thing that would potentially be useful about this monstrosity is a label reminding me who I rented my car from and where to return it so I can avoid them in the future. Instead I'm treated to a plastic encased threat when I look at the keys.
