I agree with Tim O'Reilly, who says, "The global brain is still in its infancy. We can raise it to help us make a better world, or we can raise it to be selfish, unjust and short-term in its outlook."

There is a global brain. No question. The only question is, what kind of global brain do we want.

What kind of global brain do you want? Unfortunately the option "no global brain" is no longer an option.

Interesting....
One of the hallmarks of natural systems is that they exhibit a peculiar set of patterns which we all recognize but are hard to specify. The science fiction author +Rudy Rucker calls this quality Gnarl. The way trees branch out is gnarly. So is the way water curls in a wave, or sand erode on a beach. Or, as in this picture, the way hair sweeps when wet. Scientifically gnarl may have something to do with fractals, and fibonacci numbers, and L-systems, and spirals and other laws of growth. Ever since Rucker pointed gnarl out to me, I see it everywhere and began photographing it. Here is one of my emergent albums of Gnarl.
